Trump shut the government down because he wanted our government to pay for the wall, that he had just promised to get Mexico to pay for. Funny thing was, he never even offered up a plan for how to get Mexico to pay for it. He just acted like he never promised that, and immediately worked to put the burden on US taxpayers.
The act was typical Trump. He thought he could make a deal but the fact was....... he couldn’t. Mexico is ungoverned and could make no such agreement absent cartel consent.

This is why Trump is needed. Even the concept of having Mexico pay for it without writing a check is foreign to people who have studied business or government but has never worked in the real world. When people use this attack ita a sign that they are business dumb or tax and spenders
I always thought that in the long run, there were ways that Mexico could be made to be paying for the wall, not in a direct manner of course, as in submitting a bill “for the wall”.
One thing I did want was the wall, even if we had to take it out of the widows and orphanage fund.
