Ron DeSantis on Trump: I can't speak to porn star payments
BBC News ^ | March 20 | By Anthony Zurcher

Posted on 03/20/2023 11:18:48 AM PDT by RandFan

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, when asked about rumours of former President Donald Trump's impending indictment, denounced the man in charge of the investigation, New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

What the man who might be Mr Trump's most formidable presidential rival said next, however, was telling.

"I don't know what goes into paying hush money to a porn star to secure silence over some type of alleged affair," he said. "I just I can't speak to that."

He went on to mention "porn star hush money payments" a second time, before pivoting back to criticism of what he called a "high-profile politicised prosecution" by a prosecutor he said was backed by deep-pocketed liberal donor George Soros.

The Florida governor seemed to go out of way to emphasise the tawdry origins of the potential crimes being investigated, even while denouncing the investigation itself.

That could be a sign of how Mr Trump's presidential rivals handle a possible arrest and criminal trial for falsifying business records and state campaign finance law violations.

Mr DeSantis had been under pressure from Trump supporters to defend the former president and denounce the prosecution ever since the Mr Trump speculated on his social media website that he would be arrested on Tuesday.

“Porn Star Payments”

Hah!

FR Trumpsters wanted DeSantis to comment on Trump’s little problem. A problem he brought on himself.

And DeSantis has done so. I bet the Trumpsters are still not happy though.

Oh well. Sucks for them.

That makes DeSantis’ response even more important and he failed compared to Senator Cruz's.

The weaponization of our legal system is a dire threat to this country. Governor DeSantis better step up to the plate.

Exactly! All we wanted him to do was stand in the gap for all the conservatives that have been persecuted by these demonic funded by Soros POS! All we needed to hear from him was that he stands with the conservatives condemning this illegal fabricated indictment. He needed to use forceful words to make his base feel like for once our party is united under one cause of justice! He royally Blew it! We know he has no power in New York we’re not stupid we know. All we wanted was to hear and see a united front from him …what we got was different color sherbet press release…sad stunningly sad.

She violated the non-disclosure agreement she was paid $150,000 for.

Yeah, he should have left out the part about the porn star hush money. Besides needling the Trump supporters, it gives fodder to the left to drive that wedge in farther.

It does, however, give a little insight to where DeSantis might be heading. Personally, I think it's a mistake for him to run in 2024. Trump deserves another shot at this.

Thanks for posting that quote. Too many people here are only reading the porn star payments remark and disregarding the rest of RDS’s remarks.

If we take everything Ron said in context, it all is very reasonable and a decent reply.

We do know for a fact that Trump paid her $150,000 and made her sign a non-disclosure agreement. I don’t think she was paid that kind of money for false allegations.

Do you deny Trump is on tape saying he grabbed women by the p*$$y...all I’m asking, was Stormy Daniels one of those women, it might explain why he paid her $150,000

I like both these guys, however, this response from DeSantis does take him down a few notches in my opinion.
The continued political prosecution of Trump because he is Trump is a very serious matter and demands a leader take a very serious stand. DeSantis gave a political mealy mouth response here when it is in this matter that all Americans should be outraged at the way that justice is being served in AmeriKa.

Except he was too cute by half. Those assembled got a good chuckle when he said “porn start hush money”. That was exactly his handlers’ intention.

Then he enjoyed it so much, he went back for a second helping and said it again. You think that wasn’t planned?

What RDS did is small potatoes in comparison to what Trump has said and done against DeSantis.

Did you read the article? Did you read Trump’s insinuation that DeSantis might be a queer?

How long would you expect RDS to take the nasty insults and attacks from tRump and not fire back?

“ Trump has been nothing but hateful towards DeSantis. ”

Trump endorsed DeSantis for governor. DeSantis has done nothing for Trump in return.

Would Trump have gone against DeSantis if DeSantis had honored his part of the endorsement deal?

No way

Yea, Desanctimonius can run on his moral superiority. He can even run on never having been impeached or cuffed. The name is spot on. Obviously Trump saw this coming.

“ He (DeSantis) is in a tough spot.”

The only tough spot he’s in is that he’s listening to his anti trump donors and pretending he has a chance at 2024. Which he does not

No one cares about this stormy d thing. No one.
