Anthony Cole, a former Department of Justice (DOJ) official, said on Sunday that former President Trump’s remarks about his possible looming arrest in New York was an attempt to “intimidate local prosecutors” and would “poison” the jury pool.
“What I think is happening here is [Trump] trying to, number one, intimidate local prosecutors and number two, I think it also has the effect of poisoning a jury pool,” Cole, who used to head the DOJ’s Department of Public Affairs, said in an interview with Jonathan Capehart on MSNBC.

He said it was a stronghold of Media and Money. The whole place is one Demonolic Island, a pleauge on America.
Boo hoo. Thousands of people before Trump have spoken about their pending arrest but *only now* could it poison the jury pool.
I’ve been watching the Idaho 4 murder case and the newscasts have been piling on the accused since the day he was arrested although not one has talked to the accused and almost none have talked to the defense attorney yet night after night they come out with bs meant to poison the jury pool. For example, last night News Nation runs a story saying the suspect “does not speak” to any of the other prisoners as if he’s standoffish and none of the others in jail want to speak to him. Only at the end do they tell you he’s NOT ALLOWED to speak to any of the other prisoners. The story is just there to help poison the jury pool.
I hope Manhattan continues to go downhill.
Doesn't wifey work for Goldman Sachs?
Yes. That’s why he needed to go down. And so does Manhattan.
As a citizen and as a defendant he has every right to say anything he wants about the legal process.
Now they want to charge him with jury tampering before any jury has been seated, or trial has been set.
haha!
So Trump is an ill-behaving pre-arrestee now.
Just another bad review by a craven critic of the enormously popular MAGA road show.
This guy and his comrades are crooked little craps, and its about time that people shout it from the rooftops.
No Conservative should ever set foot in Manhattan again.
Well, then, Cruz would be correct!!
And yet these 2019 comments from Letetia James were perfectly fine and had no potential to influence the jury pool?
“We will use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well,” she said in an interview with NBC News. “We want to investigate anyone in his orbit who has, in fact, violated the law.”
“Donald Trump’s days of defrauding Americans are coming to an end,” she would add. “We can spot a carnival barker.”
Good! Move to another venue.
Prosecutors like the media poisoning a jury pool with stories about what a rotten guy the defendant is.
Unfortunately, the prosecutors in the “Trump takedowns” are dealing with the 45th President of the United States and 74 to 76 million supporters of the President.
It looks like there might be some problems ahead for the “witch hunters.”
Creating the “Orange Martyr” being the most obvious for the prosecution.
There isn’t a single decent real man at the DOJ. I don’t seem to recall a single DOJ employee coming forward to expose the injustices perpetrated by the DOJ. Cole is a former official, and it shows that the deep state extends after leaving government.
The deep state needs to be eliminated. The first step is to permanently shutter massive portions of government that we do not need. That has benefits beyond the elimination of the deep state, such as eliminating government spending and regulations that destroy the economy. The DOJ has parts that also need to be shuttered, including the FBI, but a core needs to remain. In the case of remaining portions of government something further needs to be done.
Number one is sending every government employee to the private sector. Fire all their lazy asses and ban them from ever working in government again. This will need to be done over time, since replacements need to be found. But that is not such a daunting task because government employees can be replaced by people from the private sector by a ratio of 1:5 to 1:7. That is one private sector employee can do the job of 5 to 7 current government employees.
Next limit replacement employees to a maximum of ten years of government employment. That’s total employment at local, state and federal levels. Additionally, do not hire anyone coming from non-profits, NGOs, lobbying firms and businesses that receive contracts, grants or funds from government. Limit the number of government employees hired per family to one: no nepotism. Eliminate all public sector unions. All positions will be “at-will”. Eliminate all pensions and retirement plans. An IRA or personal investments will suffice. Government is not a place to get rich. All government employees will be prohibited from investing in anything other than broad, index related ETFs that take long positions; no investment in specific sectors or shorts such a SQQQ. Lastly, employees upon leaving government service shall be prohibited from working for any lobbying firm for life and any business or institution that receives taxpayer dollars for five years.
That's where vigilante justice comes in.
I’ve only been on a couple juries. A couple of the things I learned is that somebody pissed in the pool before the trial ever started and most jurors are blowhards. Each has their own little agenda. The ones that always pissed me off were “the message senders”.
