Ukraine’s leader believes seizing the historic Kiev Pechersk Lavra will strengthen “spiritual independence”

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has endorsed the order to expel monks of the canonical Orthodox church from the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, insinuating they were agents of Russia. Moscow has called on all Christian churches, as well as the UN and other international organizations, to respond to the “outrageous” decision.

“Since Zelensky is Jewish, I’ve always wondered what his relation is with the Azov Battalion.”

Actually I’m more interested in what the US Government’s involvement with Azov is, since the Obama Administration almost IMMEDIATELY began doing military drills with that bunch after they took out the elected government there in 2014.

As I see it, we likely have more communication with the Azovs than even with Zelensky, who only survives at the pleasure of the Azovs.

Expelling the official state church of Russia from Ukraine when Russia is making war on Ukraine makes perfect sense. These monks are in effect employed by the Putin regime.

Russia banned the Ukrainian church from Russia so what’s Russia’s complaint? Oh, wait, that’s right, Russia is a bunch of arrogant pricks who think they can do whatever they want and no one else is supposed to respond to them.

Suck it up Russia.

They still acknowledge the authority of the Patriarchy of Moscow IIRC.

That is the sticking point, also IIRC.

What a dickhead. “Russian spies”... lol. They peeking out the front door of the monastery, counting tanks as they roll by, and running to their shortwave radio.

Z is pure trash.

Since the Patriarchy of Moscow is controlled by the Russian state==

Not true. Look better Anglican Church in UK. The king is a head of this Church. That is what I called government-controlled.

But nothing like this with Russian Orthodox Church. It is ruled by its Patriarchy.

“Since Zelensky is Jewish, I’ve always wondered what his relation is with the Azov Battalion. Do they take his orders?”

He is their puppet. He ran on a strong platform of stopping the Kiev war against the Donbass. Won over 70%. He replaced the billionaire candyman who really pushed the ethnic cleansing hard.
Azov, Svoboda, Right Sector etc ran a heavily Banderist inspired “save Ukraine” movement to stop Zelinsky. However, after he won, they basically gave him the “lead or silver” ultimatum.

The leader of Right Sector openly said “He has no principles, and no religion... he will do as we say”.

He did. So basically, they opposed him bitterly over the candyman... and when he won, they explained to him how things are.

N0, the sticking point is the UOC is completely faithful to Eastern Orthodoxy AND the Ukraine.

Zelensky is persecuting the Ukrainian Orthodox faithful, another sticky point.

” the UOC is completely faithful to Eastern Orthodoxy AND the Ukraine.”

It seems that the principal Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the Ukrainian state are not convinced of this point.

You have a case of two Orthodox churches in Ukraine divided by politics, and the one of them is compromised both in its current personnel and by its history as the church of the current enemy.

Messaging, for one.

What are they telling their congregations? To the extent that they have congregations, this is an important issue.

Also such institutions are extremely helpful in creating networks useful to conspirators.

Consider the assistance the US Episcopal Church gave the Puerto Rican terrorists of the FALN. Look it up. True story.

Zelenskyy said in December that he is seeking a new law to ban all religions and religious groups with connections to Russia, along with the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Azov battalion - and I’m not even sure they use that name anymore - must be delighted at how you think they run everything in Ukraine.

“Since Zelensky is Jewish, I’ve always wondered what his relation is with the Azov Battalion.’

Overall, excellent. There are Jewish and Israeli members of the Azov battalion you know?

” Do they take his orders?”

Yes.

“Or is there a temporary truce but little cooperation?”

No, they are all Ukrainian patriots so they have always gotten along pretty well.

“Do Zelensky’s oligarchs and the Azov Battalion plan a final confrontation when the war is over?”

No, the Azov battalion is part of the Ukrainian army.

200 monks, been worshipping at that site for 1,000 years

The Kiev Caves Lavra—are the cradle of ancient Russian monasticism and the most famous Orthodox holy site in Ukraine

Yeah sure sound like agents of Putin

A reminder of the 2014 prophecy from the Svyatogorsk Lavra: the reunification of Rus’ will come sixth months after the capture of the Kiev Pechersk and Pochaev Lavra by heretics and schismatics

https://twitter.com/defnotfsb/status/1611708529609674752

Metropolitan Pavel, Father Superior of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, says that the monks of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox, vow not to leave and invites public to join them in worship

This Zelensky has ordered to be seized
Zelensky. A grease spot in history.
