you’ve been talking about it for 3 months - and Russia has been trying for 7 months (and advanced just a few kilometers as you noted).
UKR is playing rope-a-dope with the Russians in Bakhmut.
Bakhmut isn’t strategically important for the defense of Ukraine but it has proven to be very useful in inflicting massive casualties on the Russians and forcing them to expend large quantities of war material.
