As long as Putin agreed to just annex the very Russian parts, if they voted for reunification, that would have been the best way to prevent a war, imo.

Zelensky isn't even at war with Russia. It's the USA and the EU vs Russia. Zelensky is just donating his people as fodder.

Pretty harsh....I know. But what is...is.

This war would have probably never even occurred if he were President to have warranted said negotiations.

Sorry, I can’t buy that.

Putin’s Russia is currently sticking posters up saying Russia has no borders. Ukraine is the fourth country neighboring Russia that has been invaded by Putin.

Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, DPR, LPR, Crimea, South Ossetia and Abkhazia. All regions Russia annexed after Russia flooded them with an implanted Russian speaking population.

You telling me Trump, who wanted to build a physical wall to keep illegal immigrants out, would endorse a policy of “Russia can have any region it likes as long as that regime has a sizeable number of illegally implanted Russian speakers in it”?!

If Trump really said that, he’s a bloody idiot. Half the bloody Warsaw Pact countries have a population that had Russian language drilled into them by the Soviet Union. Does Putin think those Russian speakers need “protecting “? Yep. Soviet style protection.

I can’t believe Trump basically said, publicly, he endorses a capitulation to Russia’s expansionist protection racket strategy. China, and the Islamists, would love that.

Ukraine has been killing ethnic Russians in the Donbas region since 2014. That was one of the main reasons Putin gave when starting this war.

They wanted this war. They’ve been planning it for over 10 years.

I seriously doubt that he’d have been successful. Neocons will NEVER let Russia be friends with the US.

They are more heinous than liberal progressives.

Delaying the inevitable is not an end. Russia leaving Ukraine including Crimea is the means to the end that prevents Putin from pursuing additional goals to control Southern and Eastern Europe. Land for peace (how has that idea worked for Israel?) means Russia will invade again the first chance they get. This the same as cutting a deal with Japan after Pearl Harbor or Al Qaeda after 9/11. Trump is a year behind everyone else on this.

Joe Biden told Putin the same thing, just before rat Putin launched his invasion to capture Kiev. Biden and his State Department told/communicated to Putey that a limited invasion was OK by him.

But Shazam! Putey decided to go for all of Ukraine, via a decapitation strike to chase Z and his top leaders into exile in Poland and Europe. I was surprised when the Russian army failed spectacularly. Make that the Russian idiot army, with everyone from top to bottom stripping what they could to sell.

What kind of fake, degenerate, cancerous Tsar wants part of Ukraine? He wants it all. To bring back the USSR and the lands that the real Tsars ruled

Trump and Chamberlain... Two of a kind. Trump isn’t a Conservative or a Republican... He’s a conman pure and simple.

If Putin would go along with it.

Trump I’m sure can be persuasive.

Recognizing reality - as well as what the locals want anyway - in exchange for ending this destructive conflict? Sounds like common sense to me though I’m sure the Neocons will call for a never ending supply of US Taxpayer money and Ukrainian blood to feed their delusions - and of course to avoid admitting they were wrong and that they screwed up in the first place.

in other words, what is/was going to happen anyway. of course, under Trump, Putin would not have moved in the first place.

At first I thought giving the Donbas back to the Ruskies was an option for peace but then the same could be said for giving California back to the Mehicans.

It is not our responsibility to defend every nation in the world. We do not have a treaty with Ukraine (at least not a public one) and so we do not have a dog in this hunt.

European nations are the ones that should be leading this war (if they actually wanted to defend Ukraine).

So, yeah, I would have no problem allowing Russia to do what ever they think they could get away with.

Now if Russia was to attack a NATO nation that is another story (although I am not sure what we get out of being part of NATO other then paying the bills).

Ukraine never existed until the 19th century. For hundreds of years before that, most of it was Russian anyway. Give the other half to Poland.
