A recent college graduate in Utah was shot several times by police during a traffic stop in early March after officers allegedly saw him reaching for a gun, body camera video shows.
Farmington, Utah, police department officers stopped 25-year-old Chase Allan after seeing an illegitimate license plate on the BMW car he was driving at 3:22 p.m. on March 1. Police Chief Eric Johnsen released body camera video relating to the incident on Wednesday.
When the police officer told Allan that he was being stopped because there was no registration on the car, Allan said, "I don't need registration and I don't answer questions." The officer requested backup, and four other officers arrived at the scene.

I agree. I hope I’m wrong but this article doesn’t pass the smell test AT THIS POINT.
As a former Lt. for a Sheriff’s Office you are 100% correct. I’ll abide by the 72 hours rule here.

It was a good shoot.
“it looks like the cops waaayyy over-reacted. For starters....why 12 rounds?
“There were multiple officers there. Do you want them to wait and see if the first shot worked?”
Personally, I think in situations like this the police should hold a quick meeting to discuss who is going to shoot and how many times.
RE: when do us white folks start a riot about this? I need a new TV.
When the time is just right.
An artistic practical joke by Sylvester Stewart (Sly Stone).
Song called: There’s a Riot Goin’ On
by Sly and the Family Stone which is Track 6 on the
There’s a Riot Goin’ On album in 1971.
In 1997 Sly Stone said that fact that the “There’s a Riot Goin’ On” track had no running time and does not exist is simply because “I felt there should be no riots.”
If he had just shown the police some respect, they would not have felt compelled to shoot him.
Because 13 weren't needed. Which is why "Cease Fire" was called.
“Sovereign Citizen”?
Maybe so. Being a smart ass is going to bring negative affects into one’s life.
Who needs smart asses? Simplify. Who needs hassle, crudeness, or agression in their life?
One less smart ass suits me fine.
Most cops today, unfortunately, see everything as police vs them. A person can be pro police all they want but the cops still see the tax payers as not one of them. The behavior of obey my commands or face lethal force will not work long term. I am an average guy with a family and honestly don’t feel safe around cops. I feel safer around the general public. My elderly parents who are super straight arrows see the police as revenue agents. When you lose my moms respect, it’s a broken system.
Did you forget a sarcasm tag?
A bunch who don’t thin the law applies to them an d hav e built some pseudo intellectual justification for thei behavior. Most of them are just annoying, but others have killed a half dozen officers since 2000.
“ Is there video of him reaching for a weapon?
Or, just the cop’s claim?”

The video in the article was cut off just before that alleged “reaching for a weapon”. So who knows.
This might be the video of the incident....

What was he thinking? He had his whole life ahead of him. It makes no sense, unless he was suicidal.
Obviously you are fully capable of reading between the lines. Good job!
“Didn’t see the gun in the video but assuming there was one then it would be justified.”
The pictures and video here show images of the pistol and holster. After he was pulled out of the car, the holster was on his belt. The pistol was in the floorboard.
Sounds like he was having a mental breakdown. Several years ago a woman Napa County Sheriff had a encounter with an illegal alien who reached for his gun. It did not end well for the illegal. It happened so fast. If she had hesitated even for a second she would have been the one who was killed. The video haunted me because I wondered if my thinking and reactions would have been as quick as this woman officer. I also thought if that was my spouse no way would I want them to continue in such a dangerous job.
