Well, the solution is simple. Get the government to build 6.5 million housing units. It worked so well before. Just look at all the gorgeous new government apartment buildings in the photos below. People really love their new, affordable housing and they take good care of it. They are safe, too! Lots of law enforcement for the residents who value safe, secure surroundings. It's nirvana, I tell you.

Kind of a cruel thing isn’t it...concentrate all of the most poor, needy and desperate in one place and let ‘er rip.

Pruitt Igoe (sp) looked good from the outside but became a holding pen for social dysfunction. Have to give credit to Newark and Jersey City for knocking the high rises down and building new lowrise construction. Ultimately it isn’t the building - it’s who inhabits the building. However, it the alternative is allowing the urban poor to build their own shanty towns I am willing to let my tax dollars fund public housing.

There was a much smaller complex like those pictured built in Providence RI. Lasted less than 20 years as the residents destroyed their living quarters bit by bit, until even the rats moved out. Was eventually demolished and replaced with smaller low rise more expensive living accommodations, all paid for the taxpayers in a redistribution of wealth.
So what else is new?
