And this idiotic usage of the word “mural” has become prevalent in the past few years. A mural is by definition painted on a wall and not on a roadway.

Mural is a legal term that gets used by local governments to allow some art in public spaces without opening the floodgates to having to allow all commercial speech (i.e. billboards).
Using the term to try to allow partisan political speech paid for by government, as if that is somehow acceptable, is quite disingenuous.
