Traces lead to Ukraine (Nord Stream Pipeline Attacks)
ARD Tagesschau German TV News ^ | 3/7/2023 | Michael Gotschenberg, George Heil, Holger Schmidt

German investigative authorities have apparently made a breakthrough in solving the attacks on the Nord Stream pipeline. According to ARD information, there is no evidence of who caused the destructions-but there are traces.

After joint research by ARD capital studio, the ARD political magazine "Kontraste", the SWR and the "Zeit", it was possible to largely reconstruct how and when the explosive attack was prepared in the course of the investigation. Accordingly, traces lead in the direction of Ukraine. However, investigators have not yet found any evidence as to who ordered the destruction.

On the night of September 26, 2022, three of the four strands of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines on the bottom of the Baltic Sea were destroyed by explosions.

Specifically, according to information from the ARD capital studio, "Kontraste", SWR and "Zeit", the investigators succeeded in identifying the boat that was allegedly used for the secret operation. It is said to be a yacht rented from a company based in Poland, apparently owned by two Ukrainians. According to the investigation, the secret operation at sea was carried out by a team of six people. It is said to have been five men and one woman.

Accordingly the group consisted of a captain, two divers, two diving assistants and a doctor, who are said to have transported the explosives to the crime scenes and planted them there. The nationality of the perpetrators is apparently unclear. The nationality of the perpetrators is apparently unclear. The assassins used professionally forged passports, which are said to have been used, among other things, to rent the boat.

According to the investigation, the command set sail from Rostock on September 6, 2022. The equipment for the secret operation was previously transported to the port in a delivery truck...

Yes, I am completely and totally aware of World War II and how hard the Germans could fight. After defeat and colonization Germany is now rules by foreigners and their own bitter women and perverted homos. German industry is being destroyed and their economy is being choked out by the sanctions.

Actually, Germany has no choice but to grin and bear the destruction of Nord Stream. NATO is one of the glues binding the EU (the kinder, gentler German Empire), and an important one, and the US is the King Daddy of NATO. There are advantages to being a NATO member, but also a price: you become a vassal state of the US and your foreign policy is subordinated to US foreign policy.

Also, German leadership does not want the US implicated in the destruction of Nord Stream (Germans own 49% of it). US destruction of the pipelines says “we don’t trust Germany not to use Russian gas” and “we can act with impunity to enforce our idea of where you source energy”. No way will they do anything other than keep their mouths shut and maybe obliquely blame Ukrainians. Already, German industry is relocating plants to China (including the giant BASF) and Germans are losing jobs. With the cheap Russian gas gone, it only makes sense to switch to China.

China is getting plenty of cheap gas, and will get more and more:

Industry naturally moves to where it can make a profit. For energy-guzzling industries, it is no longer profitable to operate plants in Germany.

You don’t mention President Trump’s sanctioning of Nordstream2 and Biden lifting them. Why is that?

To sum it up, Germany has become a submissive concubine of the United States.

For the Germans: Zusammenfassend ist Deutschland zu einer unterwürfigen Konkubine der Vereinigten Staaten geworden.

"Was the pipeline destroyed by an external or internal explosion? If it was the latter, chances are the Russians blew the line themselves."

The Russians destroyed their own pipeline because the Russians are too stupid to just quit pumping gas through it? They would destroy a pipeline they spent $10 billion and years building just stop pumping natural gas through it? What a sad attempt of obfuscation.

Whataboutism.

It’s not germane to the subject at hand. Why should I mention it?

But now that you bring it up, the Dems and neocons were clamoring for it. In the midst of Russia-Russia-Russia. What else could he do?

The thing is, the supplier is just as dependent on its major market as the market is dependent on its major supplier. Had we not spent the past few decades pushing and pushing a very reluctant Russia into the arms of her traditional enemy China, it would be the Chinese lacking cheap Russian gas. But we were stupid.

We built up China (now a near-peer rival) and went to great lengths to make Russia (which desperately wanted to join the West and can never be anything other than a distant #3 Great Power behind the US and China) a reluctant enemy of ours and ally of China. And they started building those big fat pipelines to China. Yes, we were very stupid. I have thought so for the past 25+ years.

Now we are dependent on China for many essential goods, but we are no longer China’s major market, so they are no longer dependent on us, really. Oops!

Ja doch ... if we turn around and try to sanction or otherwise punish the EU/Germany for doing business with China, they will resist mightily. We’ll see what happens in the not-too-distant future, I suppose.

What I always found interesting is that the very next day after Nord Stream was sabotaged, the brand new Baltic pipeline, which originates in Norway and terminates in Germany, came online.

Hard to believe that that would be a coincidence.

It was not in Russia’s interest to blow up the pipelines. Putin may have decided that it was in his best interest. No pipelines means no pipeline revenue should Putin fall to his death up a flight of stairs, or accidentally inject himself with a fatal dose of succinylcholine. The longer it takes to return to the prewar status quo, with Russian Oligarchs back in their London mansions and Mediterranean yachts, the worse the risk-benefit ratio for said Oligarchs considering an attempt on Putin.

Oh, I agree that the USA is the most likely culprit here. Still, the Russians would have reasons to do it too.

Keep in mind that any revenue the Russians would receive from these pipelines would be frozen or held in escrow in Western banks. When you look at it that way you realize that this is not really a loss for Russia.

The “Deep State” wants you to believe that Russia did this and they are trying to shroud events in mystery so that theory still has a chance to be believed.

Germany is caught between a rock and a hard place. Germany needs to force a Ukraine War settlement now or face total economic disaster.

Too late. The window for a peace settlement both Russia and Ukraine could accept has long passed. Besides, Germany can’t force a peace settlement. Only the US and Russia can make a peace. Our aims are (and always were): total withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine including Crimea, regime change, breakup of Russia, Ukraine in NATO. This is, of course, unacceptable to Russia.

Russian aims were originally: some autonomy for Donetsk and Luhansk as per Minsk II, agreement that Ukraine would not join NATO (and, very likely, removal of NATO forces, bases and missiles, etc. from Ukraine), and Russia keeps Crimea.

We repeatedly refused implementation of Minsk and insisted Ukraine would join NATO.

Now, Russia wants to keep Crimea and whatever swath of eastern Ukraine they can take.

After calling for regime change, all the gleeful chatter about the breakup of Russia, calling Putin a war criminal (you don’t negotiate with those), claiming the fate of Western civilization hangs on winning the war in Ukraine, etc. — well, no room for either side to negotiate or make peace now. We have made it into an existential war on both sides (NATO’s and Russia’s).

Had the gang in Washington prudently treated this as a regional border war then, yes, there might still be some chance for a peace deal. But they did not, and so there is not. This is why it’s so dangerous.

You seem to forget that blowing up the line placed Europe at a huge disadvantage during the cold winter months. Without energy, Ukraine would not be able to repel Russia as vigorously as they did.
The pipeline was of great value to both Russia, EU and Ukraine. When tourist hotels cannot heat their rooms (as happened in the Netherlands), you know that the country is in trouble. When they contemplate restarting their nuke plants and opening their coal mines you know that the pipeline was of significant value to Europe.
