Director Steven Spielberg warned that "overt" anti-Semitism in the United States mirrors that of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, leading up to the systematic extermination of six million Jews in the Holocaust.
"I find it very, very surprising," Spielberg told late-night host Stephen Colbert in an interview aired Friday.
"Anti-Semitism has always been there," he said. "It's either been just around the corner and slightly out of sight but always lurking, or it has been much more overt like in Germany in the '30s."
Spielberg lost relatives in the Holocaust and used his profits from the film "Schindler's List" to form the non-profit Shoah Foundation to document Holocaust survivors' testimonies.
"But not since Germany in the '30s have I witnessed anti-Semitism no longer lurking, but standing proud with hands on hips like Hitler and Mussolini, kind of daring us to defy it," he warned in "The Late Show" interview. "I've never experienced this in my entire life, especially in this country.
"Somehow in 2014, 2015, 2016, hate became a kind of membership to a club that has gotten more members than I ever thought was possible in America," he said. "And hate and anti-Semitism go hand in hand; you can't separate one from the other."

It sure is, but find me someone who identifies as a Jew, who is a Christian. Most people, me included, don’t care about a persons religion. The anti-defamation league and powerful media figures, Jews all, are the ones stoking the JLM program, just like BLM are pushing from the other side.
Get back to me when you actually run into people who have the time to work against Jewish interests. It is like looking for the KKK.
Now he knows how conservatives feel.
And yet he keeps voting for anti-semetic Dems...
I’m a Messianic Jew. There are hundreds of thousands of us.
I actually had a Jewish employee many years ago.
The only way I knew he was Jewish was about 6 or 7 months after I hired him he came to ask for a day off for some Jewish holy day that I had never heard of.
I asked him if he was just blowing smoke up my ass for a day off, he showed me that it was a legitimate Jewish Holy day so I told him fine.
Never would have known he was Jewish otherwise.
If he was a real man he would point out all the libtard Jew haters especially in Congress.
I’m betting he didn’t do that did he
I am a Messianic, but I don’t identify as a Jew. Maybe I should tell people I am of one of the Northern Tribes(true), who really are of National Israel. I don’t hate them, but they surely give preferential treatment to their race.
It’s out there, but it is nowhere near what it was in 1930s
Germany.
We do need to make sure people aren’t sanctioned to develop
those types of attitudes though.
Antisemitism bleeds through into other groups that can be
hated. It’s a terrible thing to allow to germinate.
Add t antisemitism the conversations I hear daily in healthcare. Your sweet little care giver probably wants to deny care that those who did not kneel there the vax
85% of Americans obey without question... holocaust level.
Do you follow Torah? I do as best as I can. It is hard. Passover, instead of Easter, Feast of Tabernacles et al. It amazes me that there was a feast for Pentecost in the Torah. Different names, different calendars, same God.
Hyperbolic blood libel.
