Dr. Nche Zama, a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, who also ran for Pennsylvania governor in 2022, described the move by the UNC board as a “pivotal decision” that will be “applauded by some and rejected by others.”
“In the final analysis, it is a decision that is in the best interest of all our children who will come to appreciate that EXCELLENCE (not phenotypes or ethnicity) should be the ultimate standard in their lives,” he told Fox News Digital.
“The catastrophic failures in our educational system are predicated in many ways on a decades-old absence of a banner of excellence in the collective and individual learning experiences of many of our children who sadly, live in a cultural milieu that fosters a diabolically pervasive psychology, promoting self-hate, entitlement, and mediocre aspirations,” he added.
Because they mean the exact opposite of what the Left is using them for.
A few years ago when my employer hired a black woman with three names (think Sheila Jackson Lee) as Director of DIE, I knew it was time to retire.
DEi is flat out racism. MLKs message is lost amongst these people.
They already drove Professor Mike Adams to his death over this crap.
Until somebody from the Biden administration calls them and threatens their federal grants and contracts. Which is ironic, because the DIE practices themselves are contrary to already mandatory federal statements about fair hiring practices.

Many of these major universities get significant amounts of money from foreign sources, especially from Middle Eastern Oil [Islamic] countries. That money buys a lot of influence. That could be a reason they are backing away from the DEI crap.
So how long before the DoJ files the lawsuit against them threatening to takeaway all federal funding?
The ultra liberal, apologist UNC School of Law will chime in and challenge soon enough. Remember, John Edwards is a product of UNC Law School.

Legislatures need to start defunding universities that don’t educate. Perhaps someone in the North Carolina legislature threatened to do so? It is worse than a waste of money as the stated reason we fund such institutions to have a well educated populace and workforce. Most such institutions not only fail to do this, they do just the opposite - churning out people more stupid than if they had never attended a day of school in their lives.
Proof is in the pudding though.
I question if they're really removing these or are they under another name.
This has been perking at UNC for several months now. The faculty are upset with the Board of Trustees for wanting “unwoke” instruction at the university. The Trustees are even working on a new university that teaches a true classical liberal education without the new-age instruction. The faculty are ticked off that they will have no input as to the curriculum. It’s a power struggle between the faculty and the Board.
It will be interesting to see how this ends.
