MORRISVILLE, N.C. — The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority Police Department has dismissed a charge against a woman who caused a flight from Jacksonville, Florida, to Washington, D.C., to land earlier this week at RDU.

Tiffany Miles had initially faced a misdemeanor charge of airport obstruction.

“After continued investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident and review of eyewitness statements, plus in-depth consultation with the Wake County District Attorney, RDU law enforcement have dismissed the [charge],” RDU wrote.

The dismissal of Miles’ charge does not preclude further action by the appropriate federal agencies, RDU said. In a statement, the FBI Charlotte Field Office said no further charges were expected unless additional evidence comes to light.

“I am relieved,” Miles said of the charge dismissal.

Miles said she does not regret her actions.

"I know I didn't do anything wrong, so it's the same reaction," Miles said.

I read that story, and the only reason I can see that she is not getting charged is because of the melanin content of her skin.

Here is some of the back story from another article. This entitled person will probably want to sue now because she is entitled to get upset.

"Airline employees radioed air traffic control to report that Miles was attempting to breach the cockpit of American Airlines flight 3444. However, Miles said she was heading to the bathroom after getting into an argument with a flight attendant.

American Airlines said Miles was unruly and presented a security concern, which forced Wednesday’s emergency landing at RDU.

“I am allowed to get upset,” Miles said. “Getting angry is not against the law.” Miles said she flies often and never had an issue before. She said she has anxiety.

According to Miles, she tried to ask for a cocktail before the flight took off. She said she offered the flight attendant a tip, but the attendant said there was no drink service and refused to accept the tip.

During the flight, Miles asked for a cocktail again and was told there was no alcohol being served on the flight.

“I have anxiety," Miles said. "So, sometimes I need a cocktail to cool off and calm down.”

“I have anxiety,” Miles said. “So, sometimes I need a cocktail to cool off and calm down.”

Sounds like she has an alcohol habit.

Alcohol is not a depressant. Alcohol is a stimulant dumbass.

Medical explanation

Even if a person feels intoxicated that person’s physiological response is increased heartrate and increased BP, which equates to physiological stimulation.

Neurologically Alcohol triggers the brain to release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that provides energy, stimulation, and good feelings.

Although alcohol is classed as a depressant the immediate effects of a few drinks is a stimulated physiological and neurological response.

Abuse of alcohol i.e. ingesting an overabundance shuts down certain functions to effectively process the alcohol out of your system (damage control) and that’s where the depressant part of the equation kicks in.

The heartrate & BP remain elevated.

It’s one of those “just Google it” moments...

If I had to guess I would say that it was classified years ago before the science caught up.

From the internet...

Alcohol is technically classified as a depressant because it slows, or depresses, basic functions such as speech, reactions, and movement. It also affects brain function and neural activity, impairing the ability to think clearly, altering perceptions of one’s immediate surroundings, and distorting issues of judgment.

The physiological and neurological Medical facts not withstanding as described in a previous entry.
