Gov. DeSantis plans legislative attack on Florida’s undocumented immigrants (Barf Alert)

Critics say it’s a hate-filled agenda that will lead to fear, division, violence, discrimination, and a weakened FL.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has unveiled an anti-immigration agenda that would deny jobs, education, and possibly health care for hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants who call Florida home.

If the governor gets his way with the state Legislature — as is likely — all private employers would have to screen potential hires against the dodgy E-Verify database maintained by the federal government.

Undocumented immigrants would lose the ability to pay in-state tuition at Florida colleges and universities. That would undo 2014 legislation that DeSantis’ lieutenant governor, Jeanette Nunez, sponsored while serving in the Florida Senate to assist so-called “dreamers.”

These immigrants would lose the ability to practice law, and hospitals would have to report how many undocumented immigrants they treat and how much money it costs. Also, stiff prison sentences would apply for people who transport undocumented people.

Those aren’t bugs; they’re features, DeSantis explained during a news conference Thursday in Jacksonville. The idea, he said, it to make Florida less hospitable to undocumented immigrants.

“If you remove the enticement of employment, then they’re not going to want to come illegally to the state of Florida.”

Under the framework the governor announced, penalties for smuggling undocumented immigrants would increase to a minimum five years’ prison sentence and $5,000 fines; if the immigrant is younger than 18 the punishment would increase to 15 years and $10,000. Each person smuggled would count as a separate offense, and the immigrant could be held as a material witness.

WEF folks are as varied as everywhere else. Conservatives, libertarians, liberals, loons and crazies. How do you know whose who? By their actions. Does what the say align with what they do?
This idea of painting with a wide brush is old and tired. You will, as time goes on, find it a rarity to find folks that aren’t connected somehow to the WEF. That’s our fault, due to our own loons and crazies creating false narratives and not doing our own research, all while they expanded. It has to change.
What’s the name of this person DeSantis hired, what’s her record?
Ya’ll like to connect anybody you don’t like to the WEF except those you like, then it’s okay, it’s a psyops, their spying, et al. The extreme bias makes your opinions untrustworthy, emotionally driven and lacking logic. You hurt your cause.

Undocumented immigrants would lose the ability to pay in-state tuition at Florida colleges and universities.

My granddaughter was born in St. Louis, USA but was raised and went to school in San Jose, Costa Rica. She decided to go to college at San Diego State. She had to pay out-of-state tuition for two years while illegals got to pay much lower in-state tuition.

During those two years she was living full-time in San Diego, was paying income tax to the California Franchise Tax Board, and yet the college was determined to not grant her in-state tuition. They kept adding requirements to establish California residency. Had to get a driver’s license, had to register to vote, etc. etc.

And because she was a U.S. citizen she didn’t get benefits that other students from Costa Rica received.

So, I guess the question should be, “Why should illegals get any sort of break from the government?”

Good.
Former HS official said each illegal will cost taxpayer a minimum of $1,000,000.
At least 10,000,000 have been let in.
Do the math.

Blah, blah, blah….these are the “safe and effective”, Russian collusion crowd. They should just sit down and shut up. The adult is in charge here in Florida.

This is quite an objective source... "Oh, we aren't showing bias - we didn't say it - we were just relaying what 'Critics say'"

Your hatred for "CALIFORNIANS" aside let's hear some mountain logic and explain how shuffling illegals all over the country does anything to fix the problem.

Sure he'd poke some liberals in the eye and please some of his slack jawed Neanderthal supporters but they'd still be here.

Is that mountain logic on how to fix problems?

His proposal to go after employers etc. makes more sense.

Recently he asked for $10m to shuffle them somewhere else...Accomplishing nothing and making the matter even worse.
