Undocumented immigrants would lose the ability to pay in-state tuition at Florida colleges and universities.

My granddaughter was born in St. Louis, USA but was raised and went to school in San Jose, Costa Rica. She decided to go to college at San Diego State. She had to pay out-of-state tuition for two years while illegals got to pay much lower in-state tuition.

During those two years she was living full-time in San Diego, was paying income tax to the California Franchise Tax Board, and yet the college was determined to not grant her in-state tuition. They kept adding requirements to establish California residency. Had to get a driver’s license, had to register to vote, etc. etc.

And because she was a U.S. citizen she didn’t get benefits that other students from Costa Rica received.

So, I guess the question should be, “Why should illegals get any sort of break from the government?”
