A couple other passages that are guidelines for leadership:
I Timothy 3 says that ‘an elder is to be husband of one wife;’ ‘above reproach’ is also used in that sentence. Thus a man (aner) and not a divorcee (above reproach.)
Titus also speaks to church leadership as have ‘the older women... teach the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children... (My conclusion from this means that some women can be appointed to leadership over other women.)
When we let Scripture interpret Scripture the picture becomes very clear. Women are not to have authority over men or to teach men. ‘Eve was deceived’ and that points to a weakness a in woman’s leadership that could lead to erroneous teachings.

Your post confirms then what I’ve suspected. SBC was pruning off a sick grape vine branch to maintain the health of the whole vine. SBC fearing another “Beth Moore” upstaging then flame out!

Weird question, is that supposed to be somehow related to the issue of man and woman?

It is insofar as deriving exclusionary practices based on the demographics of the apostles. Always seemed like a weak argument to me.

No. Stuck in believing the Bible.

I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 1 Tim 2:12

The question is male and female, quit being childish and searching for a silly argument.

1 Timothy 2:12: I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent.

Wonder if this verse has ever been kept.

How do you feel about women teachers or keeping silent.

8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

1 Timothy 2:8-15

HOORAY!! Our pastor has been seriously considering taking the church out of the SBC for the Saddleback issue.

Ours DID leave which makes me wonder ... is the $ talking? The SBC leadership certainly showed no other predilections to moving right. Happy to be part of the electric prod.

“Ours DID leave”

I wish our pastor would the pull the church out. That’s the problem with churches with a hierarchy outside of, and above, the local church level. The missions money goes to the Convention, and I don’t know what all.

We like knowing personally the missionaries we support, instead of having it all handled by the organization. but can’t find good preaching in any around here. We won’t join an SBC church. We prefer 100% independent.

1 Corinthians 14:34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says.

Either Paul is contradicting himself or the scripture is saying something different from how we’re interpreting it.
1) Paul tells us that we are no longer under the law, but of the Spirit.

2) The clue might be in the “are to keep” in the passage is aorist tense in Greek, meaning in the past. Was that what Paul was trying to convey?

As for Timothy: Paul was claiming his rules for the church and could be subject to debate

It all boils down to the “Church” being under the authority of 1 man, that is Jesus Christ. We are under the authority of no one but Him, man, woman, or child

The Spirit gives life, the letter (written law) brings death, again, according to Paul
