White House reverses Trump-era rule, restores EPA authority on power plant regulation

The White House this week reversed a Trump-era rule stripping the Environmental Protection Agency of some regulatory oversight over power plants, hailing the reversal as a win for “public health.”

The EPA said on a press release on Friday that the “Biden-Harris administration” had “reverse[d] a rule issued by the previous administration in May 2020” which “undermined the legal basis” for the EPA’s rulemaking authority regarding “mercury, acid gases, and other harmful pollutants.”

“For years, Mercury and Air Toxics Standards have protected the health of American communities nationwide, especially children, low-income communities, and communities of color who often and unjustly live near power plants,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan said in the announcement.

“This finding ensures the continuation of these critical, life-saving protections while advancing President Biden’s commitment to making science-based decisions and protecting the health and wellbeing of all people and all communities.”

The 2020 decision, the EPA claimed, was based “on a fundamentally flawed interpretation of the Clean Air Act that improperly ignored or undervalued vital health benefits from reducing hazardous air pollution from power plants.”

/\

Says the EPA

that turned a blind eye to burning thousands of gallons of vinyl chloride

to spread pollution across the sky and to where ever the wind blows.

Spit.

It’s the money made by selling wavers or exemptions. One must understand how and why these people do stupid things with pride and arrogance.

First electricity costs will rise a lot further. Then electricity will become scarce just like food.

If the USSC cared about the constitution then they would make it illegal for anyone but congress to write rules and laws. But sadly the USSC is communist.

This is why blowing the train derailment in Ohio way out of proportion is important. It gives us an opportunity to strike at Biden, destroy Buttplug and discredit the EPA. Keep the yelling up.

Thank you for referencing that article E. Pluribus Unum. ""White House reverses Trump-era rule, restores EPA authority on power plant regulation""
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

From related thread...

While the EPA is arguably a good idea, please consider the following.

It remains that not only have the states have never expressly constitutionally given the constitutionally limited power feds the specific power to police environmental protections, but popularly elected lawmakers, not constitutionally undefined, non-popularly elected government bureaucrats, must take full responsibility for the government powers that voters trusted them with, and risk getting booted out of office for unpopular regulations.

When non-elected federal bureaucrats make edicts that citizens must comply with, particularly when bureaucrats make edicts based on stolen state powers (where is Congress on these stolen state powers?), it wrongly weakens the constitutionally enumerated the voting power of citizens.

In fact, constitutionally undefined government bureaucrats undoubtedly helped to foster the emergence of infamous career lawmakers.

Patriots, the bottom line is this imo. What is your threshold of “pain” for peacefully stopping unconstitutionally big state and federal governments controlled by bully, constitutionally undefined political parties, from oppressing the people under their boots?

The inevitable remedy for ongoing, post-17A ratification, corrupt political party treason (imo)...

All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.

If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.

Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.

...low-income communities, and communities of color who often and unjustly live near power plants

Isn't that being repetitive?

People decide where they live. In every single case, it's a set of trade-offs balancing a number of factors. It's fathers-to-be that decide they will make something more of themselves. (Yes, mothers-to-be can play this as well.)

Disadvantaged? Only if they let themselves be. I know one Chicaogland gang leader who turned in his hoodie for a suit, and became quite successfully as a stock broker company. (As a department manager with 60 people.)

That's not to say that I'm for a power plant spewing large amounts of mercury and such, but let's not "do it for the children".

They’re cool with 70 year old power plants, they just aren’t sure what power source we’ll be using in the future.

They’ll have to check in with the environmental zealot, the scientist, the college professor and suburban Karen/Brad for that information as we head towards the 2030’s.

The communists are unstoppable in their journey to attaining 100% micro-control over every single aspect of our lives...

Of course, that would be the logically optimum outcome for the long-term, perpetual tyranny that now envelops us...

Since President Reagan’s prophecy/warning has come to pass, the most optimistic view is, probably, to hunker down and continue to meekly obey for the next 998 years...

Trump’s easing of the Obama Administration imposed regulations was affecting 75 out of 914 coal power plants nationwide and allowed them more time to comply with the environmental regulations - otherwise those plants would have to close at that time. That in turn would dramatically affect electric rates and availability precisely for the “low-income communities” Biden Administration claims to care so much about...

So, after burning about half a million gallons of vinyl chloride (among other toxic chemicals) into an open atmosphere over the populated area and farming territory Biden decides essentially to close 8% of power plants that through their entire existence in the worst case scenario would not release as much toxins and hydrochloric acid into the air and soil as EPA just did themselves.

Excellent choice. /s

The EPA, like any governmental designed institution, HHS, NEA etc have absolutely no power to regulate anything. They do by fiat but in reality they don’t have any legal ability to do so.

Only Congress can pass laws and regulatations. EPA can enforce those laws but they think they can make laws and regulations on there own.

I thought this was resolved when OSHA tried to push the covid jab and the court system stated they didn’t have that authority and it was Congress job.

the USSC is not an activist group, supposedly. they can only rule on cases brought before them from the lower courts.
