A slightly different story emerged in the Washington Post, which reported that the Pentagon knew of "past Chinese surveillance balloons near Florida and Texas." Wait a minute: Near Florida and Texas? What does near mean? Were the balloons over those states? Were they offshore but over U.S. territorial waters? The Washington Post suggested the Pentagon was not being entirely clear. "The Defense Department was not specific about where in each state the previous incursions occurred," the paper reported, citing Rep. Michael Waltz, a Republican on the House Armed Services Committee. "[Waltz] added that officials did not say whether the balloons made it into U.S. airspace, which extends 12 nautical miles from the shore, or over U.S. territory, too." That's an important distinction, isn't it? Were the previously undiscovered balloons over U.S. territory or not?
At this point, nothing is clear. In a text exchange, one Capitol Hill Republican, eager to question the administration on events, saw three possible explanations. One, the Defense Department is "conflating wildly different incidents, that is, balloons around Hawaii or Key West vs. crossing middle America," a conflation he called "partisan spin."

Nay say. Those Chinese police stations in our country are probably well stocked with electronics. So are their embassies, which are scattered all of the Nation.
Weak and meaningless ending to the article, which fully demonstrated the FJB administration does not protect America and should be driven out of office IMMEDIATELY.
Should have been shot down over Alaska.
What else does Biden need to do to prove he’s owned by China???
Surely you meant your "forehead-sloping obvious part". LOFL.
You cannot do comprehensive ground-radar penetration overhead from a low-earth orbit [LEO], even if you are at an angle. But you sure as shit can do it from 60,000 feet, and map which Minuteman silos are full and which are empty.
In an effort to expand the color palette you mention consider this; everyone seems sold on the fact that the only function for this balloon was gathering data of some sort or other. Either gathering weather data (seemingly harmless) or intelligence data regarding our military capabilities. What if they weren’t looking to collect something but experimenting with DELIVERING something. Had that balloon been carrying a biological weapon or a nuclear device once it crossed into our airspace it was successful whether we shot it down and released its payload or the ChiComs pushed the button. There’s just as good a chance that this balloon (or the next one) was a giver as opposed to a taker.
Yes, I said in the past two decades China began defending their airspace. The P-3 incident and others are what I was talking about. Before that we were just flying over all the time.
The P-3 wasn't actually in Chinese airspace by internationals standards. I think China started claiming a larger territorial limit recently.
Remember China is demanding all aircraft military or civilian register with their air traffic if they fly over any part of the sea of China or fly into or out of Taiwan. We acquiesced to that.

Based upon my experience working with the intel community in the 70s and 80s, they do make things up. I caught them numerous times.
I suspect that the rarest thing coming from those agencies is truth.
True story to post, which may or may not relate to this thread...I want to post this before any additional balloon dates are discussed...
On May 9th, 2022, I was in my back yard, in NE broward county, near the beach. Specifically ~1/2 from the beach as facing North and saw a stationary white speck in the sky, off to the northeast, which I observed remaining on station for two hours. Maybe longer, but I went on about my daily business. I took three photos, which are time/date stamped. Two photos are from my phone only and one photo was taken through a binocular lens, to zoom in. It was a high altitude balloon. I live near a small civil airport between PBI and MIA and the departure path out of FLL is over my house when the winds are from the East. I KNOW the fight parts here and what I saw was completely out of the ordinary. Until I took the photo using binocular lens and then zoomed into the photo, I was unable to determine what it actually was. The balloon shape resembled an hour glass, with the bottom portion much smaller than the upper portion
The baloon was above the clouds and stationary. This was demonstrated by the fact that a cloud would occasionally obscure the balloon. The first thing to catch my attention was a stationary white object. The winds were from the east that day at surface level...AKA breach breeze, but the clouds were moving west. This is not uncommon and can happen as the warm land air rises and pulls the cool air over the ocean across the beach.. To this day,I assumed this had to have been tethered to a vessel offshore, due to the wind direction.
The height and size of the balloon was unknown. With our many fight paths for commercial and civil aviation, I thought it odd to have a tethered balloon so near the area of local flight operations.
Yes,I still have the photos and can share them, with date/time stamps, but will need assistance with posting them as I can’t do it from my phone.
Send PM with an email address and I’ll forwardrd them to anyone who would like to help.
So there...it’s on the record.
Yes, at first I thought it was a UFO and technically, while it clearly appears to be a balloon, it remains unexplained.
Finally, I don’t have any information on Hillary and am not suicidal. (Ya never know...better to say it than die suddenly)

With all of the attention, the media must be hiding something more sinister from headlines.

This is nothing more than Biden’s lackeys helping to try and cover his ass. THERE is no evidence of any prior balloon incursions. What are the dates and locations? What NAMED person has come forward to say they saw the evidence?
Story started with something like “An unnamed defense department spokesperson said it happened under Trump”. All Trumps admin people say it never happened. Then some unamed source says we found out about it later... yeah, and I got a bridge to sell ya.
Or release tiny drones carrying who knows what payload
The Bezos Blog is the leaker for the See-eye-A from what I have read.
we cannot know what is real and what is staged because our sources of information are unreliable and known to lie, obfuscate and deceive on a regular basis
well at least the "authorities" are consistent at something
If the CCP balloon was delivering anything, I’d bet it was crop diseases. Seems like a practical way to do such a thing. Sprinkle a trail of small particles which were inoculated with virus and/or fungus, and it wouldn’t be detectable visually or on radar.
