Last week a commentator on RAV or Newsmax said this is an old scam that Joe and Hunter glommed onto.

Back in the days of payola, musicians would pay DJs and radio stations to play new recordings. When that became illegal the grift was adapted to achieve the same results, but legally.

The DJ would agree to play the music and then say, “My wife (or friend or child) has an art gallery (or other business) around the corner. You might want to check it out and see what she has. So the musician or agent does exactly that and makes a purchase.

An old grift that seems to be effective still.
