The DeSantis strategy: Ignore an increasingly agitated Trump
The hill ^ | 02/05/2023 | JOE CONCHA

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is nearly three months old, but already it’s clear whom he sees as his biggest threat with the Iowa caucuses still a year away: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The perspective comes as Trump continues to act more like an underdog in the race for the Republican nomination. In recent days, the former president has gone after DeSantis, with Trump somehow claiming that Florida “was closed for a long period of time” after the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020.

“They’re trying to rewrite history,” he added of DeSantis in an interview earlier this week.

It’s an odd front for Trump to open given that he praised DeSantis’s re-opening approach three years ago. Not surprisingly, the 45th president also failed to mention that he advocated lockdowns in the spring of 2020.

“Almost every poll shows Trump losing to Biden in a presidential rematch, while the same polls show DeSantis beating Biden.”

Sums up thi article pretty succinctly.

I will never vote for the traitorous neocon globalist DeSantis either in ‘24 or ‘28. If he’s stupid enough to challenge Trump he will become as irrelevant as Jeb Bush.

What we really have is a stolen election of 2020 that forces Trump, who should be serving as President today, to have tocampaign like in 2015/2016 when he attacked every name on the polls for President..

And maybe Trump having to campaign like it’s 2015 again brings up that he was spied on by this nation from day 1.
That would agitate me..

I prefer he not be running for 2024 because he’d be serving his final term today.

Sucks to be an aspiring 2024 Candidate.
Trump is in 2015/2016 mode..

DeSantis is ignoring much more than President Trump and, hence, he will most likely be the last person to announce his run.

Trump needs to have a strategy of not getting agitated or he’s in for a rude awakening.

The main reason he won is because he identified and focused on the issues that people from a broad range of political views cared about. The only ones who are focused on Ron DeSantis are liberals who hate him...and apparently, Trump.

desantis ran for reelection for florida governor last year (2022)...

his opponent was “globalist” charlie crist...

desantis needed big donor money to combat and win against “globalist” charlie crist...

trump’s “operation warped speech” against desantis got him in trouble with his supporters in my area of florida...

It's clear to me that DeSantis is trying to divide MAGA, For me that is unacceptable, because that shows me that DeSantis is a fraud who is not the least bit concerned about what is happening in this country. Just research who is supporting DeSantis. Then ask yourself; Do these people really care about this nation, or is power their main objective to continue enriching themselves?

But everyone makes their own decision.

Just keep in mind though; United we stand, divided we fall.

No need for a debate at all. What's needed is for people to engage in critical thinking and make informed decisions. Listening to what people say are their plans, is nothing more than cheap talk.

After all, didn't DeSantis say more than once, that if Trump runs in 2024, he would not run? Yep, talk is cheap folks.

Our Governor DeSantis is great with a poker face. During the governors debates he was asked straight away by his rival Charlie Crist if he would be running for president and abandoning his position as governor and Ron did a blank stare and refused to answer. He was finally bailed out by the moderator. He is very disciplined that way.
Completely opposite of Trump who will tell you 3 or 4 times in a row.

“ Or...I want to hear them both debate and in those debates I want to hear what concrete plans either of them have to crush the deep state and their plans on a host of other issues.”

Uh…I think we’re looking at it.

Ignoring Trump actually helps Trump. People got tired of the mean tweets and mean comments. They don’t get tired of it if everything is ignored.

I live in Florida and I like Ron DeSantis, but I don’t think he should run for President in 2024. I think he should wait for 2028. Florida needs him right now and we elected him to be our Governor. If he were to run for President in 2024, he would have to basically give up the governorship in order to campaign and that will not sit that great here...at least with everyone I have talked to. So.....why ruin a good thing and possible lose both?

Squidly listen up, How do you move on from spying and deep state corruption? You don't. You re-elect Trump to prove we still have some control over the Deep State.

I am sorry most of don't see it your way and it angers you. You choose to stab Trump in the back. For me I am grateful for his first term and pray daily for his second to become reality. If you are not helping Trump then you are helping the Deep State. You choose to side with the Deep State and corruption.
