Fighter jets shot down the Chinese spy balloon over the Atlantic today after Joe Biden vowed to 'take care of it' and the FAA shutdown three airports in the Carolinas.

A missile burst the balloon at 2.38pm and separated its payload - the metal structure carrying its cameras - sending it plummeting towards the ocean off Myrtle Beach.

Footage showed a fighter jet screaming towards the spy aircraft before firing a missile which shredded the balloon as stunned locals watched from the coast.

An operation was underway to recover the wreckage and retrieve any valuable intelligence before it sinks into the ocean.

I understand the payload may have been an issue to take down over land, but if it had been on a nefarious mission why give it time to carry through?

Was a flight plan filed for that aircraft?

Did the aircraft have a transponder on board?

Did the airbases in Alaska pickup the flight as an intrusion of US airspace?

Why was it not shot down as it was entering US airspace rather than after it flew across the US above at least 10 states?

People in high places need to lose their jobs and possibly go to prison over this!

Well whatever sensitive data that thing was collecting, blowing it up did nothing. Surely the data was electronically sent home in real time. Too late JoeK.

It appears that the Democrats that pull Biden’s strings hourly purposefully did not shoot the balloon down when it first appeared near the Aleutian Islands. Instead, they let it wander around over the U.S. for days.

There absolutely could have been a nuke or EMP aboard. The balloon should have been shot down before it ever got to the North American Mainland.

Chimpanzee idiots are running this country.

Should have never been allowed to enter US Airspace.

End of story.

So SloJoe gets his State of the Union applause line while China gets all the intel this intruder was able to vacuum up.

Guess that’s about as good of a deal that we can expect nowadays from this bunch.

Expect the media and the socialist dems to try to make Biden a hero for having the balloon shot down - AFTER IT CROSSED THE COUNTRY AND COMPLETED IT'S INTEL GATHERING!

Good, Joe. Wait until it’s crossed the entire USA and THEN take care of the problem. Sheesh.

"Biden says he ordered Xi's Spy Balloon to be shot down on Wednesday but was overruled by military until the surveillance aircraft was over water"

Um, that's not how the chain of command works. Or is that how it works now?

BTW, Wednesday it was over CONUS, and had supposedly been tracked well before that.

Conclusion: this was allowed to happen.

NORAD can track Santa but it failed on a “weather” balloon?

Yep, the data was already send.

And I would have erased any traces after sending.

And I might have an internal destruct signal/suicide that could be send from China.

And if more nefarious, I might have false devices and instrumentation to give US false impressions.

And I might have some trackable chemical/isotope type of thing that could be used by China to see how effective the dispersion of ‘something’ might be.

They kept our spy plane 20 some years ago, it’s only fair that we get to keep their spy balloon.

It is similar to the big sky, small bullet principle.

Recall the 2003 Space Shuttle Columbia disaster which resulted in much more debris falling over Texas and Louisiana without injury to anyone on ground.
