An Indo-Russian joint venture (Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited– IRRPL) has started the manufacturing process of AK-203 assault rifles in Korwa Ordnance Factory in Amethi district in Uttar Pradesh (UP). This makes India the first country outside Russia which has started the production of AK-200 series assault rifles of the world-famous brand. These assault rifles are meant for the Indian Army and later there are possibilities of supplying these rifles to the paramilitary forces in the country.

AK 203

Rosoboronexport had told Financial Express Online earlier that the AK-203 rifles are fitted with integral Picatinny rails. These are for easy and convenient mounting of tactical accessories and of sights which enable the effective use of weapons in various conditions.

It comes with a special capability barrel and has compatibility with many systems including the ammunition and magazines of AK-47.

It has been reported that one of the largest users of these Russian made Kalashnikov assault rifles are the Indian Army’s Infantry regiments and Rashtriya Rifle (RR) units.

According to an official statement shared with the media by the Russian side on Tuesday (Jan 17, 2023) all the advantages of the traditional AK scheme have been retained in the AK-200-series assault rifles: these include ease of maintenance, durability, and reliability.

And in terms of ergonomics and the ability to mount high-tech additional equipment they also meet the latest requirements for the firearms in the world.

Yes, he did. The AK derives more from American weapons, than German ones. Bolt derived from the M1 Carbine’s, trigger similar to that of the Garand rifle’s. Schmiesser went to Izhevsk, but Kalashnikov designed his rifle at Kovrov.

That picture is a 5.45x39 rifle. You can tell by the magazine curve. And it has the garbage AK-12 style short hand guard.

And AKs are already more expensive than ARs. Get a WASR or Zastava for a good AKM. Palmetto makes good 100 series AKs for a little more.

The claim is 600 rpm. It must be advertised by the same people that had the million man march. The biggest clip I’ve seen for it is the ultimate zombie that holds 200 total. I have seen no claim if it can be belt fed but not in the configeration it is in as the 200.

Ammo is the problem these days.

AK’s made a lot of sense to own back when everyone had surplus crates of spam cans for cheap.

Nowadays it costs nearly as much as good quality 223/5.56 if in brass cases.

Better to get a .223/5.56 or a .308 just for ammo compatibility and reloading capability. 6.5 Creedmoor is becoming almost as common these days.

Save your brass and stock up on primers, bullets, and powder. Pull down .223 55gr GI bullets are cheap.

AK bullets are a .312 if I remember correctly. Not so easy to find those as opposed to .308 for .308/30.06/.300 Mag.

Bolt was from the M1 Garand. That came before the M1 Carbine and was the example that he saw first. Gas system was also inspired by the Garand, just flipped upside down (from the Garand’s perspective)

The magazines were possibly inspired by the Stg 43/44 I haven’t seen research on that.

Kalashnikov was a smart guy that put some working things together in a more modern way. His methods and what he did, should be taught in engineering schools.

You don’t have to re-invent the wheel. You can, however, take well working systems related to your wheel, and make the sum greater than the parts.

Ammo is NOT a problem now. Especially AK. 34 cents is excellent and all over the place. Feel free to check other calibers as well.

Modernized AK. Almost as fancy as the old one I re-built. You cant beat the design for durability.

Like the 1911A1 and Hi-Power(CZ), copied by everyone for over a century.

Yeah, thats not a good one. I love mine!

I shoot my MAK-90 pretty often with 20 and 30 rd mags. I dont even mess with the drum. Dont jinx me but it has never missed a beat firing or cycling and shoots as fast as you can finger the trigger. I can keep everything on a body sized target at 150 yds with optics and closer in it shoots where you naturally point it. Maybe I have some Russian blood in me way back?

Wasn’t the story about India and not Indonesia?

It used to have wooden fingerhole stock but I shoot rifles left handed so, and it had to have so many Made in America parts to not be BANNED by our government a few years ago but the rules are constantly changing as they casually infringe on our God given rights.
Its really too fun to shoot because it goes bang real fast.

I got these little bolt on doo-dads for Christmas. Its time to do surgery.😎👍

Yes, the story was about India. However, the proper combination form for India is “Indo”. Think of Indo-European or Indo-Aryan languages.
