“I smell treason.”

I condemn and reject everything you say. You are a failed human being.

One country has used nukes. One has not. Japan is an island on the other side of the globe. The US faced no existential threat.

Second-Guessing Hiroshima?

https://origins.osu.edu/history-news/second-guessing-hiroshima?language_content_entity=en

“The very day after the atomic bomb hit Hiroshima, the personal pilot of General Douglas MacArthur, commander of Allied forces in the Pacific, recorded in his diary that MacArthur was “appalled and depressed by this Frankenstein monster.””

Yeah I’m here on Free Republic to have kooks tell me Japan wasn’t an existential threat and we’re guilty for nuking them.

But then I guess Russia better watch it’s ass.

So much anti American fervor on Free Republic.

Yeah, their attack of Pearl Harbor was just misunderstood. Crawl back into your rice paddy.

“The US faced no existential threat.”

But much of an American generation did.

Millions would have died if the U.S. invaded Japan. The nuclear weapons used actually saved lives. I’m not saying that makes it right that they were used. It’s just a fact that their use saved millions of lives.

Chunga85: "One country has used nukes. One has not.
Japan is an island on the other side of the globe.
The US faced no existential threat.
Second-Guessing Hiroshima?"

Something like 80% of Americans agreed with you before Pearl Harbor.
Then suddenly something like 90% agreed with President Roosevelt, after Japan's Declaration of War on the USA.
Still, many were not willing to declare war on Nazi Germany until Hitler took that choice away by declaring war on the USA.

You understand, don't you, that once a country has declared war on the USA, the question of "existential threat" disappears and the only question remaining is who is the victor?

And do you seriously want to re-litigate Hiroshima?
Do you not grasp that U.S. A-bombs saved not just a million American lives, including my father's, but also untold millions of Japanese who would have died in an American invasion?

And what in the world has this to do with Ukraine?
Did Ukraine first attack Russia's "Pearl Harbor"?
Did Ukraine wage a "war of extermination" against Russia?
So Vlad the Pute is clearly the lunatic here and Russians invading Ukraine seriously need to die, surrender or get he h*'ll back to Russia.

No sane person would argue differently, certainly not on Free Republic.
