He said the gun fired by itself.The FBI (yeah, I know) stated the firearm worked as it should have and did not suffer a malfunction. He had to have pulled the trigger for it to fire.

Was the gun a revolver or semi-auto?
I have seen someone load and rack a semi-auto and then hand it to a newbie... who immediately puts their finger on the trigger (where it’s supposed to go, right?)
I took a friend to the firing range about a month ago and I would not hand her the gun until I got it through her head NOT TO PUT HER FINGER ON THE TRIGGER.
