McCarthy loses sixth vote for speaker as House remains deadlocked

WASHINGTON — For a second consecutive day, a band of 20 ultraconservative rebels blocked GOP leader Kevin McCarthy from winning the speaker’s gavel, just hours after former President Donald Trump called on House Republicans to back him and "close the deal."

Between Tuesday and Wednesday, six votes were held on the House floor to choose a speaker; each time, the rebels stuck together and voted for someone else, denying McCarthy the 218 votes he needed to win.

With both McCarthy allies and foes deeply dug in, it ensures that chaos will reign in the House for the foreseeable future under the new GOP majority.

During the fourth, fifth and sixth ballots on Wednesday, McCarthy — a California Republican who has served in leadership for the past 14 years — received support from more than 90% of the 222 GOP members. Earlier in the day, he was nominated by Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, a member of the far-right Freedom Caucus who warned his fellow conservatives that their opposition will end up hurting their cause.

"We're on the precipice of such a destructive argument today. I plead with all— all of my Republican colleagues, let cooler, more rational heads prevail. Let us unite as Republicans to elect the next Speaker of the House," Davidson said.

But the McCarthy foes showed no signs of backing down. In the three votes Wednesday, they rallied behind Rep. Byron Donalds, a Black Florida conservative who won his second term in November.

Firebrand Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., nominated her fellow Freedom Caucus colleague, Donalds, saying she was not swayed by Trump — "my favorite president" — calling her to tell her to "knock this off."

"The president needs to tell Kevin McCarthy that, 'sir, you do not have the votes and it’s time to withdraw,'" Boebert said of Trump to scattered boos.

IF NO SPEAKER-—NONE of them are technically “in office”.

“Why Trump’s endorsement of McCarthy did not have more of an effect (which was none) than it did.”

You are actually asking why the swamp inhabitants don’t do what Trump wants. You can’t separate out any other body in the country where Trump has less support.

Written differently. All house democrats agree with Trump.

If you recall, Trump would mock the NBC reporters by pointing out that they worked for “Con-Cast”.

Before Trump, I frequently mentioned how toxic the telecom companies were/are; i.e., ATT and Comcast. Both companies probably had deals with China.

CNN was ATT
NBC is Comcast
ABC is Disney

If they try that, Kevin can elect Tyrus as his champion to fight Fetterman and give him a lock of his hair as a token, and that would be over real fast.

Ah, well they are in enough to vote.

Just grab Greg Gutfeld by the legs and keep smacking Fetterman with him until he loses consciousness (Fetterman, that is).

“Personally, it could stay locked for two years.”

Jim Jordan says he wants to investigate. Whatever his committee proves beyond a shadow of a doubt, it will amount to nothing. The democrats control the Senate and the MSM will accuse the Republicans of being racists and white supremacists and the Republicans will tuck their tails between their legs and fade away.

During Trump’s first two years, the Republicans held the majority, and Comey and his buddies would testify before the Republicans, perjure themselves and and slap the Republicans committee members around and the Republicans did absolutely nothing.

It’s starting to look like we’re going to end up with Jefferies. The Caucasus told McCarthy they rather have him if he won’t accept concessions.

It’s tough to be a leader when you’re a serial liar.

If Kevin McCarthy shook your hand told you that he promises to repeal Obamacare, would you believe him?

McCarthy has lost all credibility. He’s lied so often that no one believes him anymore. Ask his ex-wife.

The solution is to pass a law that forces cable companies - who have virtual monopolies in most locations - to offer a la carte programming where the customer can pick the channels they want instead of only being able to buy a “package” of channels dominated by communists and degenerates. You’re forced to fund their propaganda. I contacted Rand Paul about this over 10 years ago and never got a response.

That is why they all fight tooth and nail for those committee seats.

The lobby doesnt pay for votes on the floor of the house. They pay for favors in the committees.

The House Ways and Means is the most valuable.

Ryan-Cantor-McCarthy were on the cover of, I believe it was TIME magazine. Folded arms across the chest, looking smirk, Capitol background.

“THE YOUNG LIONS” was the cover title.

Cantor lost big, eventually Ryan went down, and we’ve seen McCarthy carry on, since 2009. The KOCH Brother$ produced that trio.

“Can’t they just do a steel cage match and have done?”

Who? McCarthy and some phantom candidate? The Republicans had months to get behind an alternative candidate and nothing got done. Pathetic.

We have eyes wide open how many House RINOS there are standing with McCarthy, for a few pieces of silver. In this case, a few promissory concessions with no teeth, according to the Freedom Caucus rebels.
