Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said on Wednesday that former President Donald Trump should tell House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to withdraw his bid for speaker.
“Let’s stop with the campaign smears and tactics to get people to turn against us, even having my favorite president call us and tell us we need to knock this off. I think this actually needs to be reversed. The president needs to call Kevin McCarthy that, ‘Sir, you do not have the votes and it’s time to withdraw.'”

I’m with Lauren.

I’m glad Boebert was re-elected.
oh man, we could get stuck with a Dim as speaker if this keeps up.
All I can figure is that McCarthy and Trump have come to an understanding that McC will do certain things if he is speaker. Guess we’ll find out together.
She just voted for Donalds in the sixth vote for speaker.
Even if Trump does - how many votes will he peel off?
McCarthy is still getting 200 votes.
The real question is why won’t McCarthy give in to some of the concessions to get consensus?
Never gonna happen.
I am too. However, who would they nominate as Speaker? Jordan, Scalise?
McCarthy won’t step aside because we don’t pick our leaders anymore. The billionaire oligarchy does and he is their pick.
Trump doesn’t need to do anything.
This is the House’s fight.
And, as if McCarthy would listen to Trump.
“The real question is why won’t McCarthy give in to some of the concessions to get consensus?”
Because he knows he will most likely prevail in the end. And then he will marginalize those who didn’t support him. That’s how power works in DC it seems.
Trump needs to stay out of this. He has no power at this point and might be doing more harm than good. His opinion is no more valid than yours or mine...he is a private citizen at this point in time.
Trump should have stayed out of this from the beginning. I think McCarthy is “damaged” goods after losing 4 votes ... he will always be doubted by BOTH sides of the GOP if he gets it. What McCarthy doesn’t get ... we had a Paul Ryan and somehow we still have a McConnell ... we aren’t just going to cave in anymore to a RINO.
“The real question is why won’t McCarthy give in to some of the concessions to get consensus?”
Because he is subcontracted by the Democrats to make sure the Democrats still have control of it. The concessions will hamstring the Democrats. The “R” majority means absolutely nothing if McCarthy is leader and there are no concessions in place. Nancy Pelosi will still be in control by proxy.
Wow, McCarthy must be getting close to taking his ball and
going home by this point.
I like the option she mentions, better.
Explain how that realistically occurs.
I suspect you’re correct.
"How long can you let this go on?"
Mccarthy is uniparty. Uniparty anointed him.
