A New York university professor is drawing heat as “anti-cop” and “blaming the victim” for condemning as murderers two Suffolk County cops who shot dead the knife-wielding man who tried to kill them, leaving them with serious stab wounds.
“This was a wellness check — why didn’t they de-escalate the situation?” Prof. Anna Hayward posted on a Stony Brook Medicine Instagram update on the conditions of the two stabbed officers with its staff and Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison.
“Why did a man have to die? What about the man they murdered?” Hayward brazenly accused, using the handle “hayanna72.”
The Suffolk County officers had responded to a call that the suspect was threatening his roommate with a fire extinguisher, authorities said, on Birchwood Road in Medford on Dec. 28, when one of the men turned a knife on the officers, authorities said.
The man stabbed and seriously injured the two officers, one with life-threatening neck wounds. At least one of the cops pulled out his firearm and fatally shot the suspect in self-defense, police said.
Both officers were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment. A third officer was also transported for minor injuries.

Most academics especially those not in the hard sciences consider themselves to always be the smartest person in the room. They’re right when no one else is in the room.
I remember back in 1974, when the cops found the hideout of the Symbionese Liberation Army, who kidnapped Patty Hearst. When they raided it the police came under full auto sub machine gun fire. The raid left six SLA members dead, including leader.
On TV that evening, people called in crying about the deaths of this murderous gang and blaming the cops for the deaths, and said they should have flushed the gang out with firehoses.
The commentator then said that the gang could have shot the hoses full of holes as they had full auto firearms and the deaths were the fault of the gang.
Patty Hearst, who was not there at the time had a full blown case of the Stockholm Syndrome.

Your statement is true. Universities have also provided, however detrimentally, a perch for many of those released on the public by the closure of asylums and state mental hospitals. In many instances these institutions seemingly add credence to the bleetings of those who would normally be ignored or at the worst sedated.
