California officials have charged the driver of a Tesla that plummeted over 250 feet off a San Mateo highway with attempted murder and child abuse.
Dharmesh A. Patel, of Pasadena, California, was driving the vehicle when it went over the side of a coastal road at a spot known as the Devil's Slide. Also inside were one other adult and two children, who have not been identified. All four survived the crash and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Charging documents show that the other adult was a 41-year-old woman, and the two children were a girl, aged 7, and a boy, aged 4.....

“Dharmesh A. Patel”
Okay, that’s it. I’m not shopping at this guy’s 7-Eleven or staying at his motel.
update: Dharmesh is a MD, radiologist. The passengers are his wife and his own 2 children.
Thank goodness these children survived.
Remember when those two women drove over a California cliff in a murder/suicide, killing their adopted children and themselves?
Once release from the hospital going to jail
I didn’t realize how safe Teslas are designed.
Lots of horrible people in the world. Glad the children and their mother survived this monster.
Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. Well, sort of.
I wonder how the unusual center of gravity in that vehicle affected this thrill ride (?)
[...] flipped several times before becoming wedged into rocks just feet from the surfline
Are they designed specifically to become wedged into rocks just feet from the surfline?

More of Mike Lee’s friends.
Just like those 2 women that drove off a cliff in that general area. Sure says something about the strength of the Tesla that all survived.
Yeah, Teslas are at the very top of crash safety ratings. Supposedly the Tesla Truck is even better. Shame they are electric cars, but you can’t have everything!
The Arranged Marriage probably wasn’t working out.
Should have bought a Dodge with a Tanaka Airbag.
Lol
“The electric vehicles have a self-driving feature and a manual option, but whichever one was in use, CHP said the driving mode “does not appear to be a contributing factor in this incident.”
Given the above, and their charging him with attempted murder, whatever was going on in that car must have been recorded, either by someone’s phone or the car, and either intentionally recorde, or not.
I make it a policy.....I don’t drive on roads with cliffs unless I am driving. Just a policy I have.
This is an example that Tesla drivers are weird.
I'd like to see what a competitor vehicle does in this situation before drawing that conclusion.
