@ChadPergram

A) 9 GOP Hse mbrs or mbrs-elect sign a letter about McCarthy's offer to make concessions. "Regrettably, however, despite some progress achieved, Mr. McCarthy's statement comes almost impossibly late to address continued deficiencies ahead of the opening of the 118th Congress"

B) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "At this stage, it cannot be a surprise that expressions of vague hopes reflected in far too many of the crucial points still under debate are insufficient."

C) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "This is especially true with respect to Mr. McCarthy’s candidacy for speaker because the times call for radical departure from the status quo — not a continuation of past, and ongoing, Republican failures."

D) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "For someone with a 14-year presence in senior House Republican leadership, Mr. McCarthy bears squarely the burden to correct the dysfunction he now explicitly admits across that long tenure."

E) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "Thus far, there continue to be missing specific commitments with respect to virtually every component of our entreaties, and thus, no means to measure whether promises are kept or broken."

F) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "Mr. McCarthy's statement also continues to propose to restrict the availability of the traditional motion to vacate the chair as a means of holding leadership accountable to its promises"

G) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "We have from the beginning made clear that we will not accept following..Pelosi’s example by insulating leadership..We also note that the statement fails completely to address the issue of leadership working to defeat conservatives in open primaries"

H) 9 GOPers: "The progress made thus far has been helpful and should guide our thinking going forward."

I) 9 GOPers who signed the letter: Perry, Gosar, Roy, Bishop, Harris, Clyde, & Reps-elect Luna, Ogles & Crane.

What else would you expect McCarthy to say. Based on what I just saw on FNC, he wasn’t acting very confident. He wouldn’t even answer a fairly straightforward question. He just kept walking up a stairway with 1-2 aides blocking access to him. He’s very worried he won’t be the new Speaker. If he is not elected, he’s going to look really stupid having to move his stuff back out of the Speaker’s chambers.

Scalise is the obvious choice if Mc Carthy steps aside.

When the new congresscritters are seated this month, there will be 222 republicans and 213 democrats. If the nine republicans abstain from voting, and everybody else falls in line, it will be 213 v 213. Then what?

Great. Stick it to the left-wing of the GOP. They stuck it to us for long enough. They didn’t fight to win more seats and actively worked against conservatives winning in 2022. So F# them.

But who is going to replace his candidacy? And will he/she have enough votes to become Speaker?

Nancy Pelosi

Is the leader only elected by unanimous support?

THats the truth. McCarthy undermined the candidacy of many house conservatives across the country, just the way Mitch did for Senate Candidates.Plus he greased the omnibus bill skids.

McCarthy has to go.We need a real scrapper as Speaker.....and that’s either Matt Gaetz or Jim Jordan.

Time for RINOS to go to the back of the bus.

Your post is outstading because it delineates exactly what the issues of the stubborn 9 aee. None of thenews networks talk about these issues, onlyabout the “horrible delay” and GOP disunity.

This is not GOP disunity...its RINO disunity form a group of GOPe dinosaurs who refuse to share their colonial power established under King Bush.So we understandably have a revolt in the GOP ranks.

RINOs need to realize they need to share power with MAGA or they will have no power.

The days of Boehner/Ryan/McArthy are over, that era ended with those 3 dead votes yesterday.
