Republicans in the minority on the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee declared Friday that there had been “no legitimate legislative purpose” for the Democratic majority to release Donald Trump’s tax returns.
It was the first time Congress had ever obtained and released the federal tax returns of a private individual. Democrats claimed that they needed the returns as they considered future tax legislation. But the former president argued in court — to no avail — that Democrats were overstepping the separation of powers.

The only reason for this is that dems passionately hate Trump and plan to use the returns against him.
Yeah, sure they will. I’ll be sitting here waiting holding my breath for Republicans to be aggressive. They know Biden will flip them the finger and his IRS will not turn anything over. There is nothing as aggressive as a Republican when they know they don’t actually have the power to do something.
Democrats just won’t comply. Easy enough.

If this was the argument they successfully used in court, they just set a beautiful precedent.
If the republicans had any ballz, which they don’t, they’d be going after and getting, based on this court precedent, the tax returns of: Soros, Gates, Kerry, every celebrity you can name, Lebron James, Steve Kerr, all the skanks on The View, everyone at CNN & MSNBC, every hedge fund manager, every senior guy at Blackrock and Vanguard, every liberal donor. If I missed anyone, feel free to think of some.
The first thing McCarthy needs to do is start issuing subpoenas like the snow in Buffalo. Every single member of this administration and their combined families. Drag them all in front of House committees and put them under oath.
That includes Pelosi, Schiff, Kinzinger, and Cheney. Subpoena their tax preparers. Subpoena their banks.
And drag that useless Hunter Biden in while they’re at it.
They started this. Give them a bellyful in return.
All this assumes that McCarthy has a functional set it testes, of course.

Against Trump: We demand these tax returns. We will go to any court appeal lengths to get them. He has no right to keep them to himself.
