Is This Winning? Western leaders can no longer hide the truth about Ukraine.
The American Conservative ^ | December 19, 2022 | George D. O’Neill Jr.

Posted on 12/19/2022 6:35:41 AM PST by NorseViking

Recently, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen carelessly revealed the devastating cost of the Ukraine war.

“It is estimated that more than 20,000 civilians and 100,000 Ukrainian military personnel have died to date,” she said. The comment drew sharp backlash and the E.C. later deleted the comments from video recordings of the address. The censorship was left unexplained and demonstrated the confusion of the purveyors of the approved narrative.

If Von der Leyen’s estimate is true, that is nearly ten times the number of dead Ukrainian soldiers reported by the Ukrainian government. The E.C. president’s remark shows that even the strongest backers of this bloody and unnecessary war can no longer hide the truth: Ukraine is at risk of losing.

The mainstream media and the Biden administration insist ad nauseam that Ukraine is winning against Russia. But the facts on the ground do not fit the narrative and the administration and media know it. The war hawks know their cynical Ukraine policy has not succeeded in driving Russia out of Ukraine. Tragically, the Ukrainians are the ones who suffer the immense cost of this foreign policy failure. Their nation is ruined for the sake and at the instigation of the globalist American empire.

I’m going to ignore the deliberately delusional here; they are uneducable. But, what is really interesting is the recent interview of General Z by the Economist. To see him publicly recognize that Ukraine will lose unless the West sends him a full new arsenal which he clearly knows isn’t going to happen and to ON HIS OWN bring up the Finnish commander in 1940 who had to make a defeat speech to his troops was stunning. General Z said he doesn’t have to make that speech “YET.”

WOW, just WOW.

Putin sent his most elite troops against his much smaller neighbor and managed to get them wiped out! Now he has been forced to get re placements from prisons and forced conscription. He has lost most of his first line tanks and is taking 60s era equipment out of storage. Putin has revealed the Russian army to be a paper tiger. This will not set well with the Russian ruling class!

I think the Russians are slow-playing the Ukraine war in part to further bleed the United States

You can't really believe that. Russia's economy is about the size of the economy of Texas, and the vast majority of the bleeding getting done is by Russian conscripts and mercenaries near Bakhmut.

Meanwhile the Russian attack on Ukraine has generated spending in the West on arms and weapons systems, and that spending is bolstering the economies of the USA and its allies. Factory workers from Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and other US companies are enjoying their Christmas bonuses.

And nations around the world are realizing that they need to buy US and European made weapons.

ordinary Ukrainians are not targets

That's the ridiculous Russian talking point of the day. If "ordinary Ukrainians" are not the targets why do the Russians keep killing them and destroying their homes, businesses, and farms?

In todays news for the uninformed: UK to Announce Major New Artillery Package for Ukraine December 19, 2022

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will on Monday announce a major new artillery package for Ukraine during a meeting of Nordic, Baltic, and Dutch counterparts in Riga.

Sunak will arrive in Latvia on Monday for the meeting to discuss ongoing efforts to counter Russian aggression in the Nordic and Baltic region with fellow members of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).

Sunak will call on the leaders to maintain or exceed 2022 levels of support for Ukraine in 2023, a statement issued by the prime minister’s office said.

He will also announce that the UK will supply “hundreds of thousands of rounds of artillery ammunition next year under a £250 million ($304 million) contract that will ensure a constant flow of critical artillery ammunition to Ukraine throughout 2023”, the statement said.

Zelensky’s wife was so upset she almost couldn’t finish her $40,000 Paris shopping spree.

There is no realistic scenario of the Russian loss.

Tell me Freepers, was that sentence constructed by a native English speaker?

No. Not a chance.

The Russian Troll Farm that posts as NorseViking used to use someone who had a good grasp of both the English Language, and colloquial American English. NorseViking used to plausibly pass as an American Expatriate living in Russia. Nowadays we get some scrub troll who apparently relies heavily on Google Translate.

Actually, it is. I saw the original and modified video where the EU removed the offending statement.

Here’s a clip of the original:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB8GQnRJHWg

Can you honestly say she did not say “more than 100,000 Ukrainian military officers have been killed so far”?

Now, you can argue she was given false information but what you cannot do is claim she misspoke and was actually referring to casualties instead of deaths because the phrasing and its context cannot substitute “killed” with “casualties.” She said immediately prior that 20,000 Ukrainian civilians have been killed. So, the data set she used was “killed” not “casualties.”

The Russian losses are at most 1/15 of the other side.

If you really believe that you need psychiatric help.

If that is the talking point of the day in your office in Leningrad, then enjoy your pelmeni and borscht.

If you are an American spreading lies because you think it is a good way to influence American political opinion you should be ashamed of yourself.

Which is it?

Does he think the Ukrainians should have just given up?
If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.

There is also an ESL aspect to a lot of the Uke cheerleaders’ posts. Several of them definitely yip-yap with a foreign accent.

The GDP is meaningless. Would you mind telling me why Netflix’s P/E is 30 times that of Nestle? Or how is it possible that the abandoned warehouse get IPOed on Wall Street for $60 million?
In Russia blue chips pay 30% of their value in dividends every year.
Check out the production and consumption of electricity between countries to learn the real economic output.
Fiat money are going to be of little value once it is over.
And Russia is outproducing the US in war materiel by a long shot.

same reason we did it to Iraqi, Afghani, Vietnamese, Japanese or German cities, towns and schools with MILLIONS of civilians killed…… because it’s war. And when you drop bombs or missile or artillery or even a bullet in a city occupied or supporting your enemy’s war effort… civilians get in the way. Always have and always will. The most casualties in any war are civilian casualties.

The BBC runs a project researching the Russian losses through open sources. Their numbers are under 10k. Why do you think the Russian losses have to be higher than of the other side?

Igor Girkin has been indicted and convicted for shooting down an airliner full of civilians in 2014. 298 people died as a result of Girkin's actions.

Girkin may be posting here under an alias, he would be the type to be pushing Putin's talking points, but unless you have a soft spot for people who shoot down commercial airliners Girkin doesn't get much sympathy from me.

Keep in mind, the “Media” is under no legal obligation to tell the whole truth. That applies to BOTH SIDES.

If anyone believes the Uke side or Russian side without questions, they may also believe that only approx 6000 Chinese died of COVID.

Ukrainians are tweeting and Tim to king in a war zone. So either this is true or te Russian “invasion” is the least strategic in the history of wars, excluding Americas wars since Vietnam.
Even someone who learns military strategy from watching movies know, communication and supply operations are neutralized first.
What should we learn? This is a continuation of Obama proxy war with Russi that he started in Syria. His globalists also put Zelensky in power, the dancing puppet.
Their is clearly a homogeneous strategy across the globe and if they need to sacrifice a few million commoners, they will do it.
Zelensky asked Biden to stop beating the war drums mulled times.
If the global movers and shakers cannot acquire Russian natural resources, their green agenda is over.
Sidedly enough putins nationalism stands in their way.
So with two evil faction I would ask… which one has an agenda that will cause the most harm to my children, their children..
it’s pretty easy to see from history that when several global devils arrive or are appointed, such as after WWI…. That is a problem for every person.
Funnier still… Xi and hhs nationalism was a problem, that’s why Biden has the bromance going on.
