An 83-year-old North Carolina Home Depot worker has died — weeks after he was tossed to the ground trying to stop a “menace to society” shoplifter still on the loose.
Gary Rasor is seen on surveillance footage stepping up to confront a man wheeling three Ryobi pressure cookers out of the Hillsborough store Oct. 18 — only to be shoved to the ground by the crook who then casually strolls away.
Rasor was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he celebrated his 83rd birthday and made hopeful plans to see his new grandchild for the first time, his wife told WNCN.
He died Thursday “due to complications from the injuries received,” Hillsborough cops announced the next day.
The North Carolina medical examiner has ruled the death a homicide, police said, adding the hunt continues for a suspect they previously branded a “menace to society.”

I’ve pondered corporal punishment for some crimes many times. Put the perp in the stock and throw rotten vegetables at them.

The handful of stories were oddity of the day types “such as watch this Rodeo Drive store get looted by organized group that got away in stolen SUVs waiting at the curb.”
I glance at iCrime once in a while and saw another one like that.

We pay more due to their actions. We watch respect for the law going down.

I don't know that. My friend's son at DICK'S said it was mostly groups of 2-4 yutes. Not enough to make it newsworthy, I suppose
If one person alone furtively slipped a pair of socks into their jacket, the staff likely wouldn't detect it, but when a few people arrive together, appear to be casing the store, quickly start grabbing stacks of items together and then run, it becomes obvious.

If he came into my garage and stole it, I’d shoot him.
But then you didn’t ask what I’d LIKE to do........What I’d like to do is shoot him, tie him up, hang him from a telephone pole and put a sign under him that anyone that steals or breaks into a house has an example of their future.
Or if they dropped the hammer, I’d provide addresses to those establishments that wouldn’t shoot him. That way he knows where stealing isn’t considered a crime
It’s looting, without the natural disaster.
