I have a female friend, divorced with an 19 year old son living at home. He has no real job, hasn’t gotten a driver’s license yet, and no goals or ambition in life. I can’t bring up the topic as it is a huge trigger for her...
Kid’s life is ruined, going to be an unskilled, uneducated momma’s boy with no work history.

Businesses are not wanting them.

Major businesses have active HR policies to hire every kind of person except white males. As well as for the white males that do work there, they dont get raises and promotions at ths rates all other groups do.

Its ridiculous to then turn around implying where are white male workers, acting like there’s some kind of problem with them.

These people set policies in place to keep down or not even consider white males, then in the same breath ask where are the white males, like they are lazy and don’t want to work.

HR gaslighting.

Is it possible that he has a cognitive or other non-physical disorder that she has not shared with you? Sometimes these things are more complex than they appear on the surface. (e.g. fetal alcohol syndrome)

I have 3 young adult male children. One is 20 and a soph in college and has coding jobs lined up each summer. One is 24 and works for the FDIC and lives on his own, with some roommates. One is 26 and works for a blockchain company and just got married last weekend.

I think the reason they all have jobs is that we’ve made it clear they can’t live with us after college graduation unless there is a dire emergency. . .they all therefore got jobs ASAP so they could pay their rent. Simple as that really.

The problem is they still can’t find enough workers.

More, higher pay = more workers willing to work.

It’s not merely a result of more baby boomers retiring. Labor force participation among males ages 25 to 54 has slid to 88.4% from 89.3% before the pandemic. Don’t blame long Covid. The decline is most pronounced among young men. Labor participation among males ages 20 to 24 has fallen 1.7 percentage-points since January 2020 versus 0.5 for those ages 45 to 54.

Notice we get the actual stat for the labor participation rate of 25 to 54 demo (88.4) but not the rate for under 25 demo, only that it is down slightly. Down to what? I HATE THE WSJ.

Go Woke Go Broke

Many young black men believe what the government has told them - that the world owes them a living.
So why should they have to work?
And they have been conditioned to see that working at a job is “acting white”.

OTOH - Authorities are confused as to why young white men aren’t interested in working after years of
being told by their leftist government that they are worthless racist scum and a blot on humanity.

Biden is paying so many to stay off work in hopes the illegals will be hired.

They are a multi plan deal

NOTE>> Coders can work from home. Coding can be a legitimate work from home job. At twitter or any company.

I've done the "work from home" option off and on since 1980. At PacBell I had an on-call site support job with a 25 mile one-way commute. Ops called one night and I used my old Bell 103 modem (foam ear cups for the phone handset) and my H9 terminal to dial in and fix the problem faster than I could get dressed. That got a thumbs up from ops and my boss. Much faster resolution. At the office I had a VT100 and 212A dialup modem, so there was little to be gained driving in.

Today, I work from home with team members spread from Hawaii to New York. The corporate VPN, 1 Gbps fiber optic network connection and an i7 laptop with 64 GB RAM are suited to the task. I'm building microservices that run in a kubernetes cluster for my customer. My place on the team reflects having been a team member of each of the 30 systems that are being migrated from dedicated server to microservice containers. Internal knowledge of the apps helps in the migration to the new execution framework. As a bonus, I work on another part of the project doing AI/ML to replace human analysts. The intent is to do what the humans do as well or better in a much shorter time frame. Getting the answer faster is the aim. The quality of the human output is fine, but takes too long in a "live" scenario.

I’ve seen cases where it was obvious a 20 something male’s employment application had been filled out by his Mother.

My friend hired a 20-something male for an office job, and was given normal instructions and information. I guess he was offended. After the first day the guy’s mother called my friend and instructed him on how her son likes to be spoken to. LOL! Kid didn’t last long.

You are the exemplar of the remote, work from home worker. But I am always suspicious of Government workers who are working from home. Especially Federal ones. They have a great scam going.

You know that Washington DC is a ghost town these days during the Monday-Friday workweek. -— Opinion D.C.’s downtown is comatose. Here’s how to revive it. -——

(READ the comments. These Federal workers never want to report to their office again)
