The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said the government will draw up a law banning churches affiliated with Russia, saying the move is necessary to prevent Moscow being able to "weaken Ukraine from within." The National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, which groups top security, military and political figures, told the government to draft the law following a series of raids on parishes that Kyiv says could be taking orders from Moscow.

Brief correction: after further reading, it looks like out of all Eastern Orthodox churches, it is only a minority (not a majority) that recognize the OCU after its formation a few years ago, allegedly due to accusations of canonical irregularities with its formation.
As such, as far as the Eastern Orthodox are concerned, at least a majority recognize the UOC as the “legitimate” church for the Orthodox laity in Ukraine.
It wouldn't. Orthodoxy in Ukraine is split between those which recognise the Moscow Patriarchate, and those which recognise the Constantinople Patriarchate. This ban affects only the former.
That event was years before we were in the war, when Russia and the Nazis were approaching their friendship, and only months before they were invading Poland together.
Ukraine has been a free separate country for over 30 years. Most of the people who live in Ukraine have lived most of their life free from Russian control.
For Russia to try to press an ownership claim now, would be like the Greeks who originally settled Crimea to claim Crimea belongs to them.
The Orthodox in Ukraine who recognized the Moscow Patriarchate declared their independence in May 2022 in response to the invasion.
At least de facto, there are currently no branches of Eastern Orthodoxy in Ukraine who claim communion with Moscow.

The Bund was a fellowship organization, that only allowed only American citizens of German descent. It wasn’t a religion practiced by thousands of people, and it didn’t begin in Germany. We’ve been at war with muslims since 9/11, yet their mosques are allowed in all 50 states.

And the left has been trying non-stop to destroy Catholicism, not only with their attempts to destroy Christmas, and what it stands for, but also by forcing Catholic nuns, Catholic-connected hospitals, and other religious institutions to unconstitutionally violate their religious beliefs, and practices.
