Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Monday said the U.S. will continue to support Ukraine “for as long as it takes,” underscoring the Biden administration’s commitment to keep funding the nation in its war against Ukraine despite concerns a new Republican majority in the House may plug up spending.

Austin, speaking at a press conference in Jakarta, Indonesia, said the U.S. has provided more than $20 billion to Ukraine and the country has used it effectively.

According to the red in that map, Russia now has access to the Black Sea and on to the Mediterranean. Wouldn’t that be a satisfactory outcome for the Russians?

They already had access on the eastern side of the black sea.

It was never about sea access. It's about the natural resources in Ukraine that are now valued at #4 in the world.

The oil and gas are direct competition to Russia's oil and gas. The grain is important too. Steel mills, weapon factories, Russia wanted it all.

for as long as it takes,

Or until it is no longer convenient to do so. At which time Ukraine is on its own.

The war in Ukraine is nnot crushing the stock market.
Inflation and recession caused by inflation are.
The American Rescue plan, Inflation Reduction and geatly increased regulation under Biden cause the inlfation and recession.

And note that Putin needed Biden’s high energy prices to finance the ware. Putin is evil, but not stupid. He would not start a war under Trum[p because Trump kep energy cheap.

The last thing Florida needs is well intentioned federal bureaucrats trying to re-build it.

“It was never about sea access.”

Thanks for enlightening me. What do you think are acceptable goals for Russia in the conflict?

Nobody in the administration has articulated how this is in US interests.

We are left to discern it ourselves.

They haven’t even tried.

Look at the deliveries not the press-reported dollar figures. Ukraine isn’t getting money. They’re getting guns and ammo from the stores. 155mm shells and GMLRS rockets are not going to help Florida (nor the southern border).

They will help Florida if they sell them...

Spend it on Americans

So, what’s the “it?”

The USA is weak.

This administration is sick.

I guess that’s true. Still rules out the pallets of cash conspiracy theories. Only American allies use 155mm and GMLRS ammo and American allies are decent countries so they wouldn’t buy on the black market.

No way the conspiracy theories of Ukraine secretly selling the ammo instead of using it to kill Russians work. Especially when they have demonstrated how good they are at killing Russians.
