The Russians are probably going to launch a winter offensive.
They probably intend to cut most of Ukraine off from the EU.
They can’t spare troops for occupation duty so they had to let Kherson go.
they have inferior troops, inferior weapons, inferior logistics and inferior funding
and in 2 weeks the EU cuts off all Russian oil imports
Russia simply cannot win this war, they are desperately trying to force Ukraine into a “peace” deal
The Russians no longer have that capability. How'd their last winter offensive work out in February and March?
To do that, they would have to occupy western Ukraine, which they don't have access to unless they can persuade Belarus to join them in the war. And they would face vigorous resistance in western Ukraine, which except for the Soviet occupation from 1939-1941 and 1944-1991 was never ruled by Russia.
Kherson is indefensible with the current battle situation
Which the Ukes are discovering
Another civilian evacuation has started, this time by the Ukes, because civilian survival in a city without power, heat and food supplies is challenging at best
Meanwhile the Ukes have been rounding up anyone suspected of “ collaborating” during the 9 month Russian administration..at least a hundred executed and more “ disappeared”. Purges of the. “ liberated” areas seem to be a Uke priority.
Apparently the Russians still have good informers because they are actively and accurately targeting military targets in the city which remains under attack
Just some news from the “ other side” to balance information on the situation
Ukraine “will” win? Last I heard, Ukraine was dictating surrender terms to the Russians.
This is dumb because the Russians have been planning "offensives" and claiming they've been carrying them out for some time, and they HAVE tried, bigly, but have failed to take any meaningful territory or victories since July other than maybe a village here or there that they lose the following week.
A similar narrative was playing out in Bakhmut for at least the past month, with Putinists on this very website pointing to Bakhmut and Russia's imminent conquest of that town as proof that Ukraine's offensives were soon to be reversed.
Naturally this did not occur because it is a bunch of horeshit, even though Russians have apparently and verifiably launched huge amounts of attacks on that little town attempting to gain ANY territory--but all have failed.
Now the new narrative is that Russia, which can't even supply its conscripts with winter clothing (they have to buy them themselves), will launch a major offensive in the winter!
This will go the same way all other announcements of major offensive will go: false promises, pitiful attempts followed by defeats, and then the whole thing will be memory holed, and we will be told that Russia is planning a massive Spring offensive (rinse and repeat).
