Establishment House Republicans Oppose Impeaching Joe Biden

Establishment House Republicans signaled Thursday they oppose impeaching President Joe Biden after reclaiming the majority.

While conservative members of the House filed nine articles of impeachment against Biden since 2021, many establishment Republicans, now with more power in the majority, believe impeaching Biden is not a good idea.

“We shouldn’t even be talking about that, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) told Politico. Fitzpatrick recently won his election by about ten points over his Democrat challenger.

“There’s so many problems we’ve got to deal with on the policy front … I don’t like the fact that that’s even being discussed,” Fitzpatrick whined.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), who won his reelection by about three points, said impeaching Joe Biden, like Democrats impeached former President Donald Trump for a “perfect phone call,” is not appealing to independents.

“I want to warn our colleagues: There may be some activists in our party that want impeachment. But I can tell you that the swing voters and the independent voters don’t. …We change leadership by elections, impeachment is the outlier,” Bacon said.

Rep. Tom Cole (R-OK) echoed the establishment House members’ opposition. Cole won his district by about 30 points. “The failure to win the Senate hurts a lot, and I think, to be honest, the margin does make a difference. A lot of the people that put us in the majority are from relatively moderate seats. I would hate to put them in that position unless there was an overwhelming reason to” impeach, Cole said.

In the past two years, nine articles of impeachment of been filed against Biden. Reasons for impeachment range from selling oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to foreign nations, the open southern border, pandemic overreach, and the deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan.

That’s naïve to think the GOP will ever get credit for anything that they could claim that made a positive difference from 2022-2024. Look at Obama, he comes in and blames Bush for the bad economy, and then when Obama’s economy tanked and Trump comes in, Obama takes credit for Trump’s success. The media was Obama’s wingman for 8 years he was in office and still are helping him. The media is and always will be bragging on Biden, while trashing any Republican especially anyone MAGA.

Republicans love spending our money whether they are in power or not. I doubt they will stop any funding. They will cave on some ridiculous bill Biden will come out with say a $5 TRILLION bill, RINOs will lower it to half and grandstand like they are helping the American consumer.

“I think trying to do constructive things for the people should be the priority.”

You’ll have to define a constructive thing they can do that the senate or Biden won’t stop. And with just a small vote difference, a 2/3 majority won’t happen even if the numbers were legit. There are a number of RINO republicans in the house that will return so even if the house goes republican in count, it is very close as to whether it will go conservative as there are airhead republicans anti the GOP in most votes that are a part of the problem. So is there a majority? And they and the senate will never agree on the color of the sky. Biden won’t sign anything he can’t change, and will line item everything he can’t change to kill the funds for it. And that may get worse now than over the last two years. So the house is just a bump in the road.

With the Senate held by Dems or a one or two vote Republican advantage, “impeaching” Biden is just bad theatre. Without the numbers, conviction and removal aren’t happening. Then there is the little problem of Harris becoming President — what a prize that would be.

Focus effort on exposing Biden for financial crimes, sale of influence to China, putting the country at risk by emptying the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, all sorts of fraud and mismanagement, massive grifting with Ukraine aid. Expose the Student Loan debt write-off scheme as a cynical ploy that Biden KNEW was unconstitutional and would never fly. Expose use of the DoJ and FBI for partisan ends. Go after Biden’s incompetent and corrupt cabinet officers. Expose corruption and incompetence in all these pork-barrel spending bills. Etc.

The point is, simply prove that Biden and all his works are rotten to the core, and the regime will collapse; even Dems will run away. Impeach now and the Dems will circle the wagons and the media will make him a sainted martyr.

Yes, COB. I'm presuming the imposed decision deadline for this SCOTUS request for Certiorari is 5 PM Eastern, or COB.

That's what it says on the SCOTUS docket page.

I am against impeaching Biden for two reasons. It gives us President Harris...

You do know that impeaching Biden (or anyone) does not result in them being removed from office, right?

its useful, VERY useful in driving the base to vote... and the next election... where if accused in the house, and acquitted (most certitainly), will put enough issues on the table that many marginal democrats and milque toast republican biden supporters... will wince at the optics.

it makes is harder to cheat.

How the F*** is Ronna McRomeny STILL in position? She should have been FORCED to resign after the 2020 fraud. She was doing the rounds on radio before the midterms and no one was holding her accountable for the fraud, and the idea she wasn’t even talking about fraud said the fix was in even then before the elections. Now after the “red wave” that was a media driven story, failed to happen, why isn’t Ronna McRino not forced to resign? I’ll wait for any Freepers answers on this.

“You do know that impeaching Biden (or anyone) does not result in them being removed from office, right?”

I understand. But I think that during the impeachment process it would be necessary for Joe to talk and once he’s being cross examined it would be impossible not to note he needed to be replaced. Of course, they might keep him off the stand, but so much evidence of his cognitive decline exists it would be hard to hide. On top of that, I’m sure the ones most anxious to get rid of him are the Democrats.

Why should the House waste their time on this lost cause? It has no future with the RAT Senate. The goal should be to get him OUT, and that’s not possible.

Hi.

“That is exactly what the Dems did to Trump, impeached him in the House and not convicted in the Senate. “

True, but think about it, what if the Republicans impeach Brandon? He won’t be convicted in the Senate, but it might throw him into more serious dementia.

Then comes the 25th amendment and Biden drools his way to the ALF.

Then we get VP madame word salad. Mr. Brown’s favorite horizontal bop.

I don’t see any positive outcomes.

I understand that helping Americans needs to be a priority but I think investigations of the Biden family are important from the standpoint that Republican administrations are constantly painted as corrupt while Democrats are often cast as “scandal free”. If even 1/10th of what is accused is true, the American people need to know.

“Without the 67 Senate votes for conviction and removal it’s a waste of time impeaching Biden”

************

So you’re saying there are no circumstances under which Biden should ever be impeached? Even if there were to be clear evidence of treason? Wow.
