The Mercers, who were among Trump's major benefactors during his first run for president in 2016, are distancing themselves from the former commander in chief's latest White House bid. Federal Election Commission records indicate that after spending millions to help get Trump elected in 2016, both Mercers have largely cut back their support.

GOP megadonors Robert Mercer and Rebekah Mercer have no current plans to help former President Donald Trump's 2024 campaign for the White House, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Mercers, a father and daughter who were among Trump's major benefactors during his first run for president in 2016, are distancing themselves from the ex-president's third White House bid and cutting back their overall campaign fundraising, these people said.

I thought it would be a good idea to post the attacks by the Mercers.

Except the article lists NO “attacks” by the Mercers.

Anonymous sources are saying that the Mercers are not going to donate a large amount to President Trump’s campaign.

How is that attack?

How do you know he said that in error? Because MSM said he said it in error?

Anonymous sources??? It was a missile strike by them—no body needed to know how they plan to spend their money.

Re: 22 - Because I listened to him say it.

And because I have listened to him make gaffe after gaffe, including calling out for a House Member that was killed more than a month prior.

Is it *possible* that is what he meant to say? Yes.

Is it probable? No.

Re: 26 - that’s a fair point. But it is their call to say they are curtailing contributing any meaningful amount to President Trump’s campaign. It’s not an unreasonable question to ask them given they were donors in 2016.

I think it's a little early to be talking about 2024. I'm reserving my opinions until after all the primaries and the party conventions. My personal take is that both Trump and Biden are too old to hold the office directly.

Both of these old guys will have a hand in what happens in 2024. I just don't want either to have star billing.

Trump as understudy for Rush, perhaps?

Iirc the Mercers supported Ted Cruz in the 2016 primary, then came over to Trump.

...and got what they deserved.

“It’s funny how the sh*theads at NBC are always just so full of good news for Americans.”

It’s even funnier to me that they wrote a whole article saying something that they never gave a reason for. Every sentence related to someone said they aren’t supporting Trump this time, with the election two years away, doesn’t say why. All the article says is:

“Some of the country’s wealthiest GOP donors do not believe Trump can win again and have argued for a new face to represent their party in the race for president.”

Okay, who has said so? At any election there are always going to be people that prefer someone. And directed polls that are split don’t come up with a solid reason since the polls they used were split.

This article says nothing but wastes ink. It’s the old story, “ “If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.” WC Fields.

He has to get money to campaign from somewhere. It’s expensive.

There are ways of getting around that. You give to the party or you set up a political action committee that runs its own ads supporting the candidate.
