Right at the start FR posts said there had to be a threat if the perps are at large and totally unknown to the police.
What if during the getaway a carjacked witness could identify them so must be taken with them and then killed and dumped in a ravine?
Or maybe the cops think they’ll put a finger to their lips and tell the victim to promise never to tell who they are.
The Keystone cops are on the case....

Yes, that was the very first comment most of us made. It is patently obvious. For the police to deny that obvious truth is awful and incompetent.
Maybe the victims were sound asleep. One rumor is that their throats were slashed.
3 AM to 4 AM — sound asleep makes sense.

Or the murders of two girls in 1961 Carlsbad NM. The town was terrified after that happened.
Four people were brutally murdered, and no one was arrested for the crime. If you need the cops to tell you there's still a threat, that's on you.
The reason they said there was no threat to the public (which was a mistake) is they most likely know the scenario leading up to the killing, and that leads them to believe the killer is not killing random people. This was targeted which most likely means the killer is done killing.
She was the one with the boyfriend who also was killed.

So, if she was asleep when the attack started, she must've awakened at some point, if this story is true.
Maybe the other two roommates were so sound asleep that they didn't hear the commotion.

I have just read up on the Keddie Cabin Murders - indeed, a very disturbing crime - and so many leads and connections.
These cases also remind me of an Australian example - the Easey Street murders of 1977. Here in Australia there are all sorts of dark rumours about that case. Note also, with the Easey Street murders, there is an alleged US connection, (from wiki):
“The murders were later linked to the disappearance and probable murder of Julie Garciacelay, a librarian originally from Stockton, United States. Garciacelay had disappeared from her North Melbourne, Victoria apartment on 1 July 1975. The suspect in that case, a crime reporter and work friend of Garciacelay at Truth, had been staying in the house next to the Easey Street killings on the night of the attacks.”

This case is another that will send one down the rabbit hole. Also noting that Truth was a tabloid Aust paper, with a penchant to publish wild stories and investigate corruption.
