There was a young man putting groceries in our car the other day. I asked, if he didn’t mind sharing, what he was making an hour.

$18.00

I asked if he were an assistant manager or manager?

He laughed. No, he has only been working here about 6 months. Started at $16 an hour. They raised his pay when he consistently showed up on time and didn’t call in sick a lot like everyone else.

I asked how old he was.

Great. We can start with the federal government employees, who are rolling in so much taxpayer money that carpet the 30-mile radius surrounding DC with McMansions - affluent suburbs making those counties surrounding DC the wealthiest in the nation.

They have their stupid flags on their profiles.
Time to man up. Especially females and trannies since they’re equal.

That’s why the one proposed Trump winning strategy can’t include Virginia. Way too many folks dependent on the fed gov.

Unless you find old guys not ready to fade away to fill in part time, and big money isn’t as important as fulfilling a lifelong work ethic. I know several of us not ready yet to sit around, moan, and get fat. Or fade away. And on our worst day, still work circles around the kids..

If I may ask, what area do you live in? In my area, I’m making less than 16 in skilled labor, and they’re posting management jobs for 14.

The crooked politicians need to lower their extortion demands as well.

Fight inflation!

While I understand your position and concerns, that approach seems like it’s saying screw a different group of people not mine

I can tell you that while we aren’t hurting we’ve had to make some changes to our lifestyle I don’t like and mostly it’s affecting what our kids get to experience-personally I can deal but I don’t want my kids to suffer so that others don’t

This is all the fed and govt—I make about double what I did 20 years ago and we do not live as well by any financial measure

If the US government cut spending back to 2008 levels inflation wouldn’t be an issue.

There's another angle to this that doesn't get much attention. With two open jobs for every potential worker (assuming this is an accurate statement -- which is probably a reasonable assumption), many industries are being forced to raise their wages considerably because their employees are working more to cover for the "missing" workers.

It's gotten to the point where I am hearing from more and more people in my industry who are looking for demotion opportunities ... because they can make a little less money for a lot less effort in lower job positions in their companies.

Rio Rancho, NM

McDonalds has signs up saying $14 to start.

I'm trying to hire unskilled part time workers and am being told that $15 an hour is too little.

Fed tells employers to STOP giving pay rises in order to bring inflation down:

Employers tell DC to quit giving money to able bodied folks so they'll go back to work!

Societal disruption occurred after the Black Death due to scarce workers.

Seems to me that 'scarce buyers' would have balanced this out.

The workers became very sought after and the propertied and wage paying people were outraged at the sudden scarcity and the resulting percentage increase in wages they had to pay. They got Royal decrees to keep wages down. Al sorts of schemes were used.
