sorry, but you pay what you HAVE to to attract and keep the people you need to do your work.

While it might be “true” in a purely technical sense, it is a specious cart before the horse kind of argument.
Employers have to offer enough money to entice people to come to work, or they won’t. Poor folks might not be educated, but they aren’t stupid. If they can sit at home and play video games all day and get showered with free food and other “benefits”, that’s what they are gonna do.
Employers have to compete with the national government in that sense. If I can make $20 an hour working 10 hour shifts or make the equivalent of $15 an hour but I don’t have to put up with all the BS entailed with working for a living, it’s a no brainer.
Open borders, and a welfare state. What could go wrong?

How much of a raise did the Congressional staff just get? Huh? 24%!!!!! Are you guys completely, irrevocably, totally out of your minds??? You are going to make people so mad eventually, they'll fight you with their bare hands and die. I can not believe the stupidity of these people.

But everyone needs a living wage. We have to raise them to at least 15 an hour. No wait 20.

“a member” of the Federal Reserve’s board should have paid attention in Econ 101.

As an employer, the reason we are forced to pay more for quality employees is because there are now almost two jobs for every person looking for work, and half of that available workforce is incompetent.Only half?
(100% of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, 100% of the White House staff, and 100% of the Democrats in Congress seem to be grossly incompetent.)
(I thought "Idiocracy" was supposed to be satire, not the national strategy.)

The reason there are two jobs for everyone looking for work...is that the feds have printed money and given it away like no tomorrow, and there are plenty of people living happy on that.
But the federal careerists won’t annoy their 100% Democrat voting free riders or the corporate class; they will wring the working taxpayer more and more.
And maybe create some new free riders.

So the fedgov prints $9 trillion of completely baseless currency, sends it out to everyone in $1600 checks, and then blames private companies for inflation?
These people are either incredibly stupid, or incredibly dishonest (I'm going with the second option).

Problem is if inflation becomes deflation, I don’t see how employers can reduce wages to match. There was a time when raises weren’t the solution. Employers offered perks like Healyh insurance, pensions, etc.

Supply and Demand says employers would be lowering wages offered if there are two workers for every job. “Greedy capitalists” don’t just give money away.
My message to the Fed: Pull a other one.

And, meanwhile, 52% of HR directors have been told not to hire White men.
I have been out of work from my IT job for three months. Plenty of interviews, no offers. First, there are the 20% of jobs (either gov., medical, or extra woke) that require a COVID shot, so I skip those.
Then, I get MANY calls from recruiters, but the east Indian accent is so thick I can barely make it out. I imagine that these are the brothers and sisters of Indians who already have real IT jobs.
If I get to a hiring manager in an interview, it generally goes well, but no offer.
The employers seem risk averse, and if they want 20 specific things, and you have 12 or 13 of them with a solid work history, that is not good enough. So IT is at 2% unemployment, plenty of jobs, but none for me. Something is broken.

Something has to stop.
I added on to the house in 2018 and am doing it again (remodel money pit). Since then most things I need have doubled in price. Most of the change in the last year. The HVAC equipment I bought from eComfort in January of this year has just about doubled in price across the board. There is an element of greed in this that is criminal.
Labor quickly went up to match the pay to stay home of $18 and then again to $25 an hour and more. Three years ago we raised wages for casual labor to $15 and then again to $17 and then let everybody go.
I am gobsmacked at what kids are being paid now. No wonder they can waste so much.
After this addition the construction ends. I go into as much of a personal lock down as possible.
