Don v Ron: It's ON! DeSantis finally breaks his silence to take a shot at Trump by telling him to 'check out the scoreboard from Tuesday night' - hours before ex-President's big announcement at Mar-a-Lago

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dismissed Donald Trump's recent spate of angry attacks against him as 'noise' and touted his own strong election record in the 2022 midterms during a press conference on Tuesday.

DeSantis fired back at the former president hours before Trump is expected to announce another campaign for the White House at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Tuesday night.

It's the latest hit in the two GOP giants' Sunshine State turf war, and a larger fight for control of the Republican Party.

DeSantis has enraged Trump by refusing to rule out a primary challenge against him in 2024. The former president has responded by calling the governor 'disloyal,' 'average' and 'Ron DeSanctimonious' amid a flurry of other insults.

Asked about that criticism on Tuesday, DeSantis suggested he was unfazed - but went out of his way to target 'the corporate media' more directly than the former president.

'When you're leading, when you're getting things done, yeah you take incoming fire - that's just the nature of it,' DeSantis said.

'I roll out of bed in the morning, I've got corporate media outlets just having a spasm over the fact that I'm getting up in the morning. And it's constantly attacking, and this is just what's happened.'

Read the article. The headline does not match what DeSantis said at all. After being asked by a reporter about Trump’s attacks, he blamed the MSM, not Trump.

DeSantis says, “check out the scoreboard”.

He means, “check out the scoreboard in Florida”.

What responsibility does DeSantis take for the national results? Evidently none.

Trump isn’t even in office right now but put it all on the line for many candidates. Did DeSantis express support for the candidates supported by Trump? If he did I missed it. If he had, then he would feel some connection with the national scoreboard.

I don’t know why you can’t understand the subtext here but..whatever

I would think 50% of Republicans are not familiar with Desantis. That is a pretty damning poll for Trump.

Trump finally met his match and won’t stand a chance against DeSantis who will eat his lunch. Too smart, too polished, too good.

Trump lost his last election. Desantis won. In fact, DeSantis has never lost an election. I’ll go with DeSantis.

“Thus, we eat our own.”

Isn’t it amazing that we can give up the possibility that the GOP could use both successfully but instead get themselves into a squabble that I would expect a bunch of three-year-old children to have. The GOP is trying so hard to make itself as small on the scope as they can that they don’t care whether they can gain control and what that could mean.

There is no way Trump can win the presidency in a vote as the DNC has demonized him so much over the last years that if he were Jesus, he wouldn’t be elected to anything. And the GOP has done nothing to display his amazing success in four years running the country and has allowed the left to ruin him with two impeachments that didn’t hold water and then trying to get him for a legitimate phone call which by treaty he was required to make, the January 6 problem when he asked protesters to remain calm and non-violent, and then trying to get a former president for having declassified documents stored in a scif designed by the government for protection. The DNC is scared of him and to be honest, I haven’t seen anything out of DeSantis that Trump might not have done himself. But he’s not a governor.

Meanwhile, DeSantis is being put on a pedestal with the help of the DNC and their attack dog media trying to display how tough he is so they can scuttle Trump. They won’t admit he is a competitor, just a conservative that creates problems for them.

And all the GOP has to do is utilize them both. Just that easy. But they appear to want to hand it to the left without a single shot being fired. Gutless cowards!

But at least we have primary voter fraud to look forward to. Let’s see those 70-30 polls turn into 50.1-49.9 spreads on day 3.

The uniparty will see to that.

Look at how many people here don’t get what DeSantis just did.

But I bet Trump understands it.

Very clever. Would be interested to know if it was from a political advisor and if so..who is it

Trump may very well win the primary, but too many negatives in eyes of voters he needs, and he’ll destroy the Rs chances in 2024.

If he announces tonight retire from political thought until 2026.

“Did DeSantis express support for the candidates supported by Trump? If he did I missed it.”

You missed them. He took time off from his own campaign to fly to other states.

He is also responible for us gaining seven house seats.

The “subtext” is entirely supplied by the DM, not DeSantis. At least that’s how it reads to me.

”DeSantis gained seven house seats.”

That’s great. All in Florida? Is DeSantis’ political power limited to that state?
