At some point Republicans might stop running candidates to not give legitimacy to elections. Once the state loses its legitimacy people might stop paying state taxes. They should have a county government and not recognize the authority of the state, and then maybe rural counties make a new state.

People stopped believing in elections. Decent people won’t go to vote. Trump is a great motivator. If DeSantis is the candidate, people won’t even remember there is an election, except teachers and those who get money from the government.

In the big cities, for longer. Computers and long, drawn out, complex voting processes has allowed it to go nationwide.

Even in the '70s, BlackElk witnessed the New Haven machine generating votes first hand. He walked in on them and acted like he belonged there. At 5 minutes before the poll closed, someone would go in the machine, and the voters who didn't show up would have their names read off, and a straight party ballot would be cast for each of them.

Now they can be much more efficient.
