Republican Ryan Zinke, who served as the Interior Secretary during the Trump administration, is projected to win a seat in Congress.
The Associated Press called the race at 10:31 a.m. ET.
Zinke defeated Democrat Monica Tranel, an attorney, in the contest for Montana’s 1st Congressional District.
The representative-elect oversaw a number of efforts to increase energy development and roll back Obama-era environmental restrictions.

Wait a second, this cannot be if Trump supported him. OUTRAGEOUS!
A big loss for the Democrats.
Zinke. Good Guy. Trump Guy.
New seat for Montana due to population growth. Now they have two.
Oh man the left DESPISES Zinke. Can’t wait for him to rile them up on the House floor.
In 2014 and 2016, Zinke won Montana’s at large House seat by 15 and 16%.
This year Rosendale won District 1 by 14% and Zinke won District 2 by 3%.
Zinke’s service as Trump’s Secretary of the Interior did not help him with Montana’s voters.
Whoops, a Trump person won?
How can it be?
District 2 is pulled down by tons of libs in Missoula and some in Bozeman. Every vote counts in SW/W Montana and hopefully more red voters continue to be the demographic who move here.
So, his win begs the count question. Is it 208 confirmed House seats the Republicans own out of the needed 218 for the majority?
Not sure how to even google the option.
