Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' resounding victory over Democrat Charlie Crist — fueled by the strongest GOP showing in Miami-Dade County in two decades — has cemented his position as a 2024 presidential contender.
Why it matters: The big, broad win is a massive show of force against former President Trump, whose blessing propelled DeSantis to office. DeSantis is the first GOP governor to win Miami-Dade County, a Democratic stronghold, since Jeb Bush's re-election in 2002. He did so by double digits.
"Never seen a race that big in my history of working in Florida politics. That's an absolute bloodbath," a Florida-based Democratic consultant told Axios' Alexi McCammond.

The big picture: DeSantis' 2024 stock has steadily risen over the past year, even as Trump has grown more serious about his presidential plans — now believed to be imminent — to declare a formal comeback bid.
DeSantis' campaign and aligned political committee raised an astonishing $200 million for his re-election, with $90 million left burning a hole in the bank as the term-limited governor contemplates his next move. GOP megadonor Ken Griffin told Politico this week he would back DeSantis in 2024, saying "it's time to move on to the next generation."

The Deep State got exactly what it wanted out of this. DemoKKKrats fear RDS, but the Deep State doesn’t. They (rightly or wrongly) see another McTurd or Minion Romney.
They joined hands with the Democrats to ensure yesterday's results.
Now we see the NeverTrump come out to play...
Maybe Biden did get 81 million votes. /s
The truth.
What a foolish attitude. Divide and conquer working well for Democrats and Mitch MCConnell.
DC is toxic to anyone with a functioning moral compass and the Repugnant Party is toast. There was no red wave and America is a dying old ex beauty queen addicted to marijuana.
DeSantis can accomplish more good where he is. "It's Chinatown, Jake."
A) yes he did
B) no it does not.
As much as I like Trump, his personality is a turn off fro many people. DeSantis has Trump’s love of this country without Trump’s baggage.
It will be interesting to see how each as a candidate would handle the border issue given the strong win in Miami/Dade.
I’m afraid the Right has a chronic condition where it places all hope in a single individual or event to return us to our normal lives.
It gets played out constantly (TV, talk radio, social media) in series of Trust the Plan or promises of investigations. Just give it 2 more weeks etc.
Dropping Trump in exchange for DeSantis is just more of the same.
We would be dropping a man proven to fight for what Americans want in the hope of something else. And we will be sold that something else by numerous pundits and political experts repeating soothing words provided by Deep State shadows.
When that next President fails we will once again be looking for somebody to save a society slipping further into the dumpster; blind that the Checks and Balances our Founding Fathers intended wasn’t just limited to politicians but the public itself.
We cannot elect a President and and force him to fight alone.
I am now a 100% DeSanis supporter. I’m not going to put up with anymore bull**** like what happened last night.
100% correct. But I also think we cannot elect people who are running on the superficial issues (very important issues, but not the “deep stuff’) like inflation, abortion, etc. without dealing with the basics, the Deep State, fixing the horrendous entitlement programs including SS and Medicaid, and disestablishing 90% of the current fed government.
In other words, running an Oz-—who was far more preferable than Fetterman-—over a McClintock, who was only less so.
Get rekt troll.
Get rekt troll, this is the Uniparty throwing a wave election in their desperation to try to sideline Trump.
Get lost troll.
Another closet lib self-identifies
Another blind Trump supporter speaks up and tries to silent dissent. Take a moment and realize that you are no different than those squashing opinions on social media. Did you work for Twitter and get canned?
Another RINO speaks up.
