Midterm results: Raffensperger wins Georgia secretary of state race in major Trump rebuke
Washington Examiner ^ | November 08, 2022 11:37 PM | Christian Datoc, White House Reporter

Brad Raffensperger, Georgia's incumbent secretary of state, held off a challenge from Democratic state Rep. Bee Nguyen on Tuesday night, marking a major rebuke of former President Donald Trump's influence in the state.

Raffensperger and Gov. Brian Kemp, who also won reelection Tuesday night, became the face of Republican opposition to Trump's election fraud claims in 2020. Both officials publicly rebuked Trump's allegations, and Raffensperger gained even more "resistance" notoriety after a recorded Jan. 2, 2021, call with Trump was made public.

Raffensperger could be heard on the call vocally defending Georgia's election integrity and refusing to influence the state results as requested by Trump.

Georgia state results showed Raffensperger winning. Nguyen reportedly called Raffensperger's campaign to concede shortly before midnight.

Raffensperger ran heavily on his willingness to "buck" Trump and the party if necessary.

"I’m going to stand for the rule of law, and I’m going to buck my own party if I have to," he told Meet the Press in October. "This should not be a partisan job. This is an impartial job. I am making sure that we have honest and fair elections for everyone. And that’s so important to me, and it should be so important to every American."

He and Kemp did draw fire from Democrats in early 2021 after passing a new voting law that critics claimed at the time would make it harder for Georgians, especially black Georgians, to vote.

You are ASSUMING that. It is possible many voters do not always vote straight party ticket.

[Explain how Walker does not have the same percentages as Kemp or Raffensperger in a statewide election.

What Kemp voters are voting for Warnick over Walker?

Explain.]

Voters aren’t neatly split between Freepers and people from Democratic Underground. Plenty of people don’t really care about parties. They just go by what they think of a given candidate based on what they’ve seen in the media. That’s why scandals are such a big deal. Democrats and Republicans will vote for a pre-programmed machine if they think it will vote their way. People in the middle will vote against someone they view to be a wife-beater or lothario.

Walker is a guy who needs anti-psychotic meds just to function. Think of what Thomas Eagleton did to McGovern’s campaign against Nixon in 1972. And Eagleton was just depressed. Flawed does not begin to describe Walker as a political candidate.

Another aspect of middle ground voters? Looks. I think Tudor Dixon is giving Whitler a run for her money because she is arguably better-looking than a pretty good-looking governor.

I’m saying independents voted for Warnock over Walker. This is a general election, not a primary. Independents, Republicans or Democrats can vote for *anyone* they want. This Pew survey indicates independents are 18% of Georgians:

How stupid a headline. This was decided in the primary and Trump backed candidates for GA governor and secretary of state didn’t move on the the general. Both Republicans won re-election. Fortunately.

Nothing will change, period, if the Republican establishment is running things.

I'd sooner see a civil war than return to the days of Republicans like the Bushes running things again.

I'd welcome the Russians in here to take over if we're stupid enough to get into a war with them.

Walker is a guy who needs anti-psychotic meds just to function.

It's not the least bit believable that five or more percent of those that voted for Kemp also voted for Warnock.

But, retarded communist supposedly is on his way to victory in Pennsylvania. If that's where we are, it's time the Russians took over this country.

Re: "Raffensperger could be heard on the call vocally defending Georgia's election integrity and refusing to influence the state results as requested by Trump."

Pure, neo-Marxist propaganda...

By law, Georgia voters who have moved to a new election district must officially change the address on their voter registration BEFORE the next election.

Failure to change their voter address means their vote is null and void!

Trump asked Raffensperger to verify voter addresses in two massively Democrat counties, because Trump only needed 10,000 null and void ballots to win the election.

Raffensperger refused to enforce Georgia law.

And, Raffensperger has allowed the neo-Marxist MSM to falsely accuse Trump of attempted voter fraud for two years.

It wasn’t a rebuke of Trump. Down ballot tends to get republican votes no matter what

Trump did kind of screw the pooch with Georgia when he attacked Kemp for lifting the lockdowns in Georgia, that was the genesis of the feud.

Clean up your own state

Kemp won because he signed a CCW law and kept taxes low.

You should be so lucky

All they had to do was not vote that slot

There’s enough there to question the results.

Raffsenspurger bluffed his way through, trying to make it seem he had the high
ground. I think he was hip deep in swamp water.

Trump had the right to ask him to look again, but I think he thought it
might make him or the state look bad if he did. It now looks worse.
