High-ranking unit in the Russian navy is reeling after experiencing significant losses in a recent offensive.
The 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade was involved in Wednesday attack on a Ukrainian military garrison in Pavlivka, a town southwest of the recently annexed Donetsk region, according to The Moscow Times on Monday. The offensive intended to give Russian forces access to a key supply line in the area.
In the wake of the offensive, the elite naval unit is reportedly pointing the finger at "baffling" leadership decisions that led to the loss of roughly 300 men. These complaints were made in a letter shared by a handful of Russian media figures online, which was sent by the unit to regional leaders in its home region in Russia's Far East.
The introductory paragraph saw the marines of the unit accuse their leaders of being motivated by pay bonuses, promises, and military honors.
"Once again, we were thrown into a baffling offensive by General Muradov and his fellow countryman Akhmedov in order for Muradov to earn bonuses in front of [Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff for the Russian military] and Akhmedov Muradov promised a hero of Russia," the letter reads, as translated by the online program, Yandex. "As a result, we and the Kamchatka Marines are advancing on Pavlivka. As a result of a 'carefully' planned offensive by the 'great commanders', we lost about 300 people killed, wounded, and missing in 4 days. 50 percent of the equipment. This is just our team."
The letter accuses their leaders of hiding the true statistics from higher-ups for fear of facing accountability for their failures. They also accused them of leading men into doomed offensives for the sake of boosting their own prestige.
"The district command together with [the brigade commander] are hiding this..

Sorry, but I've been lied to non-stop for 2+ years. There are very few sources of information that I trust any longer. In fact, it's caused me to reassess what I had formerly believed all the way back to Vietnam.
Whatever. My opinion is you are going off the deep end. So by bye.
Sorry Dennis you are fact deficient because you are common citizen. These things are true and documented. You have gone off the deep end with NWO propaganda!
Not all troops are equivalent.
If the regulars have had enough attrition to require 300K new recruits, their mortality WILL BE EVEN WORSE.
Sorry to see you’ve joined the ranks of the Putin BoyZ.
We have no idea at the attrition rate of the Ukrainian military. Western allies are starting to lose their patience. We’ll see what happens after this winter.
The were 570 troops on the line which would indicate about 2 battalions of trigger pullers, as a large Russian battalion has about 300 trigger pullers.
Russian serviceman Aleksey Agafonov said they had 3 shovels among them. So obviously in the few hours they had to prepare, they had limited protection from shells, rockets, mortars.
When it was over he wrote:
“When it all started, the officers immediately ran away. In between the attacks, we tried to entrench, but the copters immediately spotted us and just shot us. Out of 570 people, 29 managed to survive, 12 more were wounded, and the rest are all dead”.

That would be 541 dead and wounded. Or 2 Russian battalions out of action. This particular incident, the make up was one of the consolidated groupings which the Russian Command began using after recovering from their “holiday” when they left the north and northeast of Ukraine.
Ref: Before the war, the Russian Naval Infantry (Marines) had a total of 20,000 troops, most of whom were stationed in the Russian Far East.
Story continues:
Agafonov also added that before that, at least one more battalion from the mobilized ones had been defeated in the same positions. Agafonov said that he saw dozens of corpses, some of them “even had soldiers sticking out of their pockets.”
“On TV they show that everything is beautiful, but in fact, here in the Luhansk region, it is the mobilized who are thrown to the front, and when we departed from there, without seeing the officers, we were already walking back, we saw that only contract soldiers and volunteers were sitting on the third line , and mobilized on the front end,” said Agafonov.
According to him, local and contract soldiers do not want to fight, and mobilized people from all over the country are brought to the Svatovo region to close the gaps in the defense. In Svatovo, where the survivors of Agafonov’s battalion retreated after the shelling, “groups of 2 to 5 people” from other defeated battalions go.
“There is complete confusion and discord here. All survivors and new arrivals are grouped into new battalions and thrown to the front to close the line of defense. According to him, the Ukrainians cleared the entire territory where the mobilized fought.

Both Russia and China focus on quantity over quality, as war is about attrition, and a nation focusing solely on quality will quickly become non-competitive.
Unfortunately, the quantity of equipment Russia once had was left to rust for decades in open air storage
Its manpower was destroyed by vodka and the highest abortion rate in the world.
the Battle of the Fulda Gap.

Which never happened.
Much like your posting on this forum...
There is not a Ukrainian citizen who would agree to those terms, and if one did, they would be shot, hung, blown up.
The Ukraine Presidential Administration run by Andre Yermark would agree in an instant to those terms to please his bosses in Moscow, but knows he’d be dead the next minute.
The Ukrainian people are stuck in the middle of this mess and are suffering.

The Ukrainian people are the ones doing the fighting, while the government does little, except make TV appearances and other PR
From the Jerusalem Post.....
“Russian Ministry of Defense refutes claims
The Russian Ministry of Defense, according to RIA, did not deny that the letter was actually sent from the front, but claimed that the losses in the unit were much smaller than those claimed and that no more than 1% of the soldiers in it were killed and 7% were injured, “many of which have already returned to active duty.”
Contrary to what the letter claimed, the Ministry of Defense claimed that in the course of 10 days the unit had advanced 5 km (over 3 miles) into Ukrainian defensive positions. The statement specifically denied that the brigade’s commanders had shown incompetence.”
Me thinks the MOD protests too much
Did your Russian forces reach the English Channel in 72 hours - despite tactical and strategic nuclear weapons use, as was the reality at the time?
If you did not, you lost.
Balderdascious drivel
Russia has failed on the battlefield and is disintegrating economically .
Russia has already lost the war and can not recover. Even if Ukraine quits, the damage to Mother Russia is totally debilitating
The hated Ukraine government is useless and inept, and its self has done a lot of damage to Ukraine.
The people are the ones fighting and buying their own survival kits and small arms, not the government.
The Ukranian government is destroying the Russian military on the field of battle.
Well. No.
Since the Russians cannot make enough shovels for their troops and mobiks to trench with, then the Russians should buy shovels from their arms supplier, Iran, And have them airlifted in, the way they brought in the Iranian drones.
I have read some of those two accounts previously. Putin the merciless, mass killer of Russians as he sends his ill equipped cannon fodder into Ukraine.
