Former President Donald Trump has told several allies he could announce a 2024 presidential run Monday night at a rally for Ohio Republican Senate candidate JD Vance, The Post has learned.
A well-connected Republican source said the 45th president was “telling people he might tonight, but it’s not a done thing.”
Trump told several prominent conservatives over the past two weeks that he would formally throw his hat in the ring during his 8 p.m. appearance with Vance in Dayton, Ohio.
But it’s unclear if the notoriously mercurial 76-year-old intends to actually do so on the eve of an election in which Republicans are favored to win the House and possibly the Senate.
“It’s not inconceivable that this is just Trump doing Trump things,” the source said, adding: “This all could be a ploy by Trump to get people to pay attention to the rally.”
“This is so classic … We’re not going to know until he gets on stage.”

I agree, it’s really gonna tick me off if he does this now!! Keep pushing for long goal!!
It would be amazing if Elon Musk gave him some info on the media and government collusion about this election, naming names.
He’ll suck all the air out of the election news, which is expected to be good for conservatives. It’s all about him.
I do.
The TDSers have almost ruined Free Republic. Just like when they were Cruzer losers in ‘16.
It’s a bad idea.
I agree with you. Give the winning candidates a chance to make some noise.
Its a terrible idea, it just fires liberals up to vote tomorrow.
They just can’t resist bashing President Trump.
Tells us who they’re (still) working for … cough, cough… DS/OpenBorders cabal.
Are you the monitor?
“There is so much TDS on this website lately it is sickening.”
Yes it is. Some of these people must go around with their hands continuously on their panties to make it easy to wad them up.
It'd be a bold move.
If he announces tonight and tomorrow turns out to be anything less that a red wave election, he'll take the blame.
On the flip side, if it is a red wave election, he'll bask in the glory.
The poster of this thread seems to think Trump is trolling to increase interest in the rally.......we’ll see
"TDS" defined as anything less than the unquestioning worship of the cult of Donald J. Trump, He Who Can Do No Wrong.
One thing he can do is make an annoucnement but put a fun twist on it like this one.
Trump: I will accept election results ...IF. I. WIN.

He could also announce a Victory Rally for the 14th if we win and that there will be a VERY special announcement to be made and to stay tuned.
Something like that.
Trump said at the Marco Rubio rally that he wouldn’t announce t the rally because he wanted Marco to get all the attention. Trump isn’t taking any attention away. He is doing the opposite. JD is going to get a lot more watchers at tonight’s rally.
Sorry, my friend Golden Eagle. When an unnamed source can lead somebody to ask the snide question, "can’t this guy keep it in the pants one time?", it's TDS.
Especially given the long list of examples where such unnamed sources turned out to be BS.
Several are just tired of the incessant Trump talk when this election has very little, if anything, to do with him, and this move would ratchet that focus up to even more unbearable levels.
What's tiring are the incessant unnamed sources turning out to be wrong. And I'm appreciative of Trump for campaigning across the country, during several campaign cycles, for numerous candidates.

Is that you, Juan Williams? Got to be. I sure hope it is. It would be hard to take knowing that there is one more person on this earth as pissy as Juan Williams.
Fine by me.
Not now.
Wait until after the election.
It’s a distraction for the simple minded voter.
... and, there goes the red wave.
