November brings Nicole and mid-term elections. Nicole has developed with subtropical characteristics in the Atlantic Ocean, taking aim for storm weary Florida.

A subtropical system has some central convection fairly near the center surrounding a warming core existing in the mid-levels of the troposphere. Nicole may further develop into a tropical storm.

It looked like Nicole is going through a large area of dry air. I’m surprised it can gain strength going through that.

Following the transition from subtropical to tropical should be fascinating. The wind field is HUGE. Larger than Florida. Expecting TS force winds in the Tampa Bay area by the time Nicole makes landfall on the east coast.

to Altamaha Sound GA.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Lake Okeechobee.

The Storm Surge Watch has been upgraded to a Storm Surge Warning from
North Palm Beach northward to Altamaha Sound, including the Mouth of the
St. Johns River to Georgetown.

Just got back from the pier (Juno Beach). Our beach is going to get battered, no doubt. I hope that’s all.

I've got some uneasy feelings about this weird, huge storm, with so many new and unseasoned Floridians, others who decided the season was over after Ian, and the mid-term elections foremost on the minds of many. By the time the winds are howling, it will be too late for most to adequately prepare.

I have a bad feeling there will be a very large swath of power outages across the peninsula. Please let me be wrong.
