Hurricane Nicole
NHC/NOAA ^ | 7 November 2022 | NHC/NOAA

Posted on 11/07/2022 2:18:20 AM PST by NautiNurse

November brings Nicole and mid-term elections. Nicole has developed with subtropical characteristics in the Atlantic Ocean, taking aim for storm weary Florida.

A subtropical system has some central convection fairly near the center surrounding a warming core existing in the mid-levels of the troposphere. Nicole may further develop into a tropical storm.

Nicole’s path looks like a pinball machine.

That’s good- I think we’ll have a memorable Election Day here! I vote on my way home from work and then have a few days off.

A friend in Ft. Pierce has been told he will have to leave the marina, meaning, he will have to ride it out at anchor.

Ouch. Any locations promising for safe harbor over there?

Better late than never. (Kidding!) Spags are pretty much in agreement. Looks like we’ll get hit mid-week.

Now you have a few days to celebrate the election results, and don’t forget the chocolate for Nicole.

I was volunteering at an ‘early vote’ tent Saturday and folks were streaming in to the precinct all day……..I think the word was out about this potential storm and everyone decided not to wait till Tuesday!

I remember back in the day when a storm didn’t get a name until it reached tropical storm strength. The NHC is so quick to dole out names now like it’s a game. This is going to lull people into complacency.

Happy to hear voter turnout has been strong. A couple of days ago, it was too soon to know when FL would be getting effects from the storm. Looks like we are good through Tuesday.

It’s a short run up the St. Lucie river from there, lots of places to hide on the hook here.

Here’s Why The Atlantic Hurricane Season Runs From June To November

"The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to Nov. 30 each year. This six-month period was chosen by the National Hurricane Center because it accounts for 97% of all Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes,"

For those of us who aren’t hurricane or tropical storm savvy, does this mean the area where it comes on shore should evacuate? Lots of damage?
